Greetings!
Summer is officially here! As with your family, summer at Baring Cross will look unlike any other. We are disappointed with the circumstances in our culture surrounding matters of health. While many of our summer church traditions have been put on hold, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the essentials. We will continue to provide opportunities for worship and Bible study, in whatever form or fashion that is available to us.
This week, we had the opportunity to take another step as a church family and offer an on-campus worship service. I know things are different. I know many of our preferences have been set aside in the interest of safety and your well-being. I understand that some of the decisions made will not please personal preference or mirror our tradition. Trust me, the virus has forced me out of my comfort zone as well. Rest assured that each decision is made with intention and serves a purpose. We are working hard every day to provide opportunity to our community to connect with God and others.
Our situation is not unique in church history. Since the days after Jesus’ ascension, the church has battled opposition of various kinds. Above all, we must remain united, trust in our leadership, and remain committed to the task for which we have been called — to make disciples of all nations. For a season, that may mean things look different around here. The thing of importance is that we hold firm to the essentials.
