Faithful … It’s a word filled with honor, steadfastness, and precision. A word that many aspire to achieve in life whether in work or devotion to God. A word that, if we are honest with ourselves and each other, is difficult to fulfill at times. Life can be difficult. Both triumph and tragedy awaits around every corner. Because of this truth, faithfulness should be celebrated, and those who live a life of faithfulness should be honored.
Over the past few months, Carol Toland and I have had discussions about her time of service at Baring Cross. Carol has served our church and God’s kingdom faithfully for twenty one years! She retired initially in 2014, only to return to us and continue to manage our financials through 2021. She has remained steadfast and devoted to the mission of Baring Cross and serving Christ through many ups and downs, both personally and professionally. We have experienced much together, and I am honored to be able to have said that I serve alongside her. Our conversations have led to the conclusion that it is time for her to step away from her position. This has been a difficult decision to make due to her term of service, but one that has been mutually made between us. We are so thankful for all that she has done for us through the years. Personally, I want nothing but the best for Carol. I want her to be able to enjoy her days with her husband and grandkids. I want her to not worry about the stresses and pressures of work. She has served faithfully and deserves a season of rest. That word, faithful, just fits Carol so well.
Would you join me in expressing appreciation for her service and work for God’s kingdom? I would encourage you to send her a note or message expressing what she means to you. Scripture commands us to encourage one another and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11), so join with me and express appreciation to her for her hard work and commitment to Baring Cross over the years.
