The Hidden Deaths Of The COVID Pandemic
BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Sara Wittner had seemingly gotten her life back under control. After a December relapse in her battle with drug addiction, the 32-year-old completed a 30-day detox program and started taking a monthly injection to block her cravings for opioids. She was engaged to be married, working for a local health association and counseling others about drug addiction.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Empathy Quiz
Empathy is the ability to sense other people’s emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling. Research suggests that empathic people tend to be more  generous  and concerned with others’ welfare, and they also tend to have  happier relationships  and greater  personal well-being . Empathy can also improve  leadership ability  and facilitate  effective communication .

Springs Recovery Connection Impact: Peers supporting Peers
"Joey Johnson walked me through things and called to check on me regularly. When I was headed to detox, he told me to go to the hospital first and get checked out. He has been a wonderful coach. It's not easy to work with people like us. I am 63 and I still have a life to live and I am grateful for the support from Springs Recovery Connection" - Christopher

Recovery Hero: Dominique Knowles
My name is Dominique and I have been in sustained recovery for 2.5 years. Recovery has absolutely been the most rewarding journey I allowed myself to experience, including it's ups and downs. Active participation in the Colorado Springs recovery community has given me tools to deal with life both on the hard days and the good days..... not many bad days happen, just hard days. In the past couple years, I have been able to regain my hope and faith in life and even greater, I have been able to regain my dignity and self-respect.

Addiction is not a moral issue.
