Improvements to the Hippodrome Cinema

and Restrooms are complete


We're excited to reveal the latest Hippodrome improvements!


The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places program and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are pleased to announce completed improvements at the Hippodrome Theatre. These efforts go toward fulfilling the City Commission’s goal of having a world-class parks, recreation and cultural affairs infrastructure.


Some of the cinema renovation project updates include:

·       new theatre seats

·       new  lighting

·       new carpeting

·       new paint

·       a new movie screen

·       acoustic wall panels


Some of the upgrades to the first and second floor restrooms include:

·        new plumbing fixtures

·        new partition walls

·        new mirrors

·        refinishing and replacement of the existing flooring

 

Joyner Construction, Inc. performed the work at a project cost of $337,570.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the re-opening of the Hippodrome Cinema is being held on August 30 from 4-6 p.m. For more information please click here.

The building that houses the Hippodrome State Theatre, Inc. is owned by the City of Gainesville which qualifies the building for Wild Spaces & Public Places funding.
