Our Story Is Built With 6WL®
One of our very first patterns continues to make waves.
When Rigidized® Metals was founded in 1940, its main thrust was to provide deep textured metal for industrial applications, and pattern 6WL®, officially developed in 1943, did just that.
Over time, the range of applications we serve has grown exponentially to include everything from transportation, food processing and material handling, to elevator panels, restroom partitions, building facades and commercial and residential kitchens and dining.
Pattern 6WL® is a deep pattern, which allows for less surface area friction. This results in products in food processing and material handling applications to move smoothly over the surface. It also reduces product buildup so wet and dry materials can move across the surface much more easily.
In addition to this, the depth of the pattern also provides extreme durability. In these, as well as other, industrial applications, products can be thrown at, dropped on, or bumped into these surfaces and the texture in the material stands up to this abuse without showing a thing. This helps to reduce maintenance costs on a much longer lasting surface.
Pattern 6WL® is available in stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, titanium, carbon steel, and more! The pattern is available up to 60" wide, and is used in countless interior and exterior applications. The pattern is functional, durable, and appealing to the eye, reflecting light and the colors of its surroundings. These are only a few of the reasons this pattern has truly stood the test of time.
As Rigidized® Metals evolved and began serving additional markets, the durability of 6WL® caught the attention of architects, contractors and designers. The easy clean-ability, the ability to hide scratches and dents, and the ease of use of the pattern checked off all of the boxes for numerous applications. Using both the prime (bumps up) side, and the non-prime (bumps down) side of the pattern, 6WL® has provided durability and aesthetics to high traffic areas everywhere.

making a splash with color
Pattern 6WL®, powder coated and highlighted, creates two very eye-catching and popular options to incorporate this pattern into your next project.
Our Middlesex line (which includes Middlesex TD, right) has the non-prime (bumps down) side of the pattern powder coated, and then highlighted, so that the color remains in the recesses of the pattern. This applies to all powder coated and highlighted materials, offering an option for a colored material that will retain its dexterity with minimal maintenance.
Our Arlington (left) option has the prime (bumps up) side of the pattern powder coated, and then highlighted, so more of the material is colored in, with just the tips of the texture exposed.
Both options are available in any RAL color option for powder coating and highlighting.

evolving to more functionality
Not only is it a durable, powerful, functional eye-catcher (sometimes all at the same time!), it can also be perforated and used in both exterior screens as well as acoustical paneling.
acoustics
In our TXTRsound Acoustical Panel systems, the perforated pattern can be highlighted or used as plain-colored stainless steel or aluminum. All options offer the same acoustical properties.
6WL® has truly stood the test of time, evolving right along with Rigidized® Metals and our constantly growing collection of deep textures. The possibilities are limitless, and the end result is guaranteed to impress.
