New Exhibit: Paintings by Pete Prown

Still Life with Pomegranate

Paintings by local artist Pete Prown will be on display in Borough Hall throughout November.  The public is invited to the artist's opening reception on Friday, November 9 from 6-8 pm. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibit presents paintings by Mr. Prown, the subject matter primarily landscapes, botanicals and, increasingly, portraits of animals. "I grew up in New England surrounded by farms, pastures, flowers, and wooded landscapes, and this is often reflected in my paintings. Everything seems to refer back to that idea, along with my 20-years of work in the professional-gardening sphere. My ongoing work is about challenging myself to try new subjects in that vein, as well as still lifes. This is rewarding and keeps me moving forward."

Pete Prown has led a 30-year career in journalism, working in two dissimilar fields - the music business and Philadelphia gardening world. He's a writer, magazine and web editor, and landscape photographer. Pete is also an author with several books to his credit.

The exhibit is sponsored by Swarthmore Friends of the Arts, the community group responsible for the rotating art exhibits at Swarthmore Borough Hall. For information about Swarthmore Friends of the Arts visit www.swarthmorearts.org.
