A New Year's Message

The Honey Badger’s New Year’s Reckoning:

Goodbye 2025, Buckle Up for 2026

Well, patriots, there it goes… 2025 is now in the rearview mirror. Some years you celebrate with champagne, others you cry into your whiskey. Some you push out the door with a boot and a warning not to come back. What was 2025 for you?

Let’s review the tape.

Parker, once a fairly normal town, decided to experiment with electing a coffee shop mayor while letting socialist council members cling to power like barnacles. What is happening in Parker? That’s not a rhetorical question anymore — it’s a cry for help. In Douglas County, we watched Lora Thomas drift away to the Republican Party to work with the dark side, locking arms with Bob Marshall and Democrats to kneecap Home Rule, because nothing screams “local control” like siding with the people who hate it most.

Statewide, we endured the usual Republican establishment sermon: unity, unity, unity, always delivered right before they stab the true grassroots conservatives in the back. We saw “Establishment Republicans” work overtime to protect the open primary scam. We watched Weld County dutifully protect its iron grip of Establishment Republicans by voting down PCP volunteers and leaving the vacancies open. The Elected Colorado Officials rose up and seized the Colorado GOP chairmanship for Brita Horn, proving once again that failure, if persistent enough, is rewarded.

Meanwhile, Tina Peters spent another year behind bars for championing election integrity. Douglas County suffered a scorched-earth school board loss thanks to mismanagement so bad it should be studied by FEMA. And in CD8, Representative Gabe Evans decided the best way to represent conservatives was to co-sponsor the Dignity Act, amnesty for illegal aliens, with better branding, directly opposing President Trump. Completely unforgivable.

Add in Representative Jeff Hurd, a Republican in CD3, partnering with Senators Hickenlooper and Bennet, to team up for one of the largest land grabs in Colorado history under the GORP Act. A federal government shutdown that was a complete yawner, and progressives holding “No Kings” rallies in a country that literally does not have a king, and you’ve got the complete clown show that was 2025.

But 2025 wasn’t all bad.

President Trump was inaugurated and immediately did what he always does: worked. While Democrats and the media gasped for air, he hit the ground running, signing winning executive orders, establishing multiple peace agreements around the world, blowing up drug boats, restoring order, and reminding Washington what real leadership looks like. The introduction of Senate Bill 1151 — E-Verify for everyone sending the open-borders crowd into full panic mode. And we saw new conservative blood emerge: Jake Bockenfeld stepping into the Douglas County commissioner race for the retiring Abe Laydon in District 1.

Now, we look to 2026 — and yes, it matters.

November 2026 will determine control at both the state and federal levels for the House and the Senate. CD4 will re-elect Lauren Boebert. CD8 must oust Gabe Evans and replace him with an actual conservative like Adam DeRito (Mr. Yellow tie). CD3 needs Jeff Hurd to be shown the door, by Hope Scheppelman. The governor’s race is already completely insane (that’s putting it mildly), with Joe Oltmann entering the picture a few days ago. Colorado Republicans continue auditioning twenty-plus candidates because apparently if you breathe and have an internet connection, you are qualified to run for governor in Colorado.

What we don’t have yet is a clear conservative standard-bearer for Secretary of State or Attorney General (what is up with that?), and that’s a problem that needs to be solved fast. We also need to start planning now for Brita Horn’s eventual removal from the Colorado GOP chair, because true grassroots conservatives and the rest of the Colorado GOP State Central Committee are done being managed by a complete loser in Brita Horn and her sidekick, Russ Andrews (the guy who sends profane texts to Colorado GOP members).

Parker Town Council has three seats opening up. Let’s stop surrendering them to automated drones that vote the same way 99% of the time. Will the Douglas County Commissioners bring back Home Rule vote in 2026?

So, let’s do what Honey Badgers do best: dig in, stay loud, stay relentless, and refuse to surrender Colorado to the people actively trying to ruin it.

No apologies. No retreat. And Happy New Year!

"Let us thank God for life and the blessings He's put before us. High among them are our families, our freedom, and the opportunities of a new year."

Ronald Reagan

The Brita Horn and Russ Andrews, "Thelma & Louise" Moment

Oh the horror…because polite euphemisms may not save us. The Colorado GOP, under the “leadership” of Brita Horn and her ever-present lap-dog, Russ Andrews, is rapidly approaching what could be the next self-inflicted catastrophe for the Colorado GOP so obvious and preventable that it feels scripted (it very well may be).

We are mere weeks from the very real possibility that the State Party could fail to hold a State Assembly, not because of an earthquake, not because of an earth-ending meteor strike, but because the current leadership may not have the funds on hand to book and hold our state assembly. Assemblies cost actual money. And not pocket change, between $125,000 and $250,000, according to former party officers with real experience running large-scale assemblies.

And what happens if the Assembly is not held?

Simple: The Colorado Republican Party forfeits its ability to designate statewide candidates to the primary ballot. This is not “opinion.” This is not “interpretation.”

This is a bylaw and law. The bylaws state: “Designation of candidates… shall be made by the appropriate designating assembly.”¹ No assembly = no designation. Full stop.

The January 15 Failure Point

The bylaws further require that the State Party issue the call for the State Assembly no later than January 15 of each even-numbered year, and that this call must include each county’s delegate count.²

This means, brace yourselves, the Party must:

  • Have secured a venue
  • Have the budget for the event
  • Be able to pay for the event
  • Calculate delegate allocations
  • Notify all county chairs for their delegates

All by January 15.

Does anyone seriously believe that this leadership, which cannot fund basic operations, will somehow pull off a quarter-million-dollar assembly? The math is not mathing. But remember, people win the lotteries too.

And if the delegate allocation is not sent by January 15?

County parties cannot run compliant caucuses or assemblies.

The entire process starts with a slow collapse to the state-nominating process.

Legal Exposure: §1-1-113 Waiting to Happen

Every statewide candidate who planned to go through the Assembly will be effectively stripped of their statutory right to seek designation. To be clear, this is a textbook injury under Colorado Revised Statute §1-1-113, which allows candidates to file an immediate emergency action when a political party:

  • Fails to perform a duty required by law
  • Violates election code
  • Or blocks ballot access through incompetence

And let’s be clear: Candidates will sue. They will win. And the courts will not be amused.

Why? Because the party is required to hold the assembly as part of the legally mandated designation process. There is no escape clause, no emergency bypass, and no secret plan hidden in the bylaws allowing leadership to say, “Oops, we’ll do it later.”

In fact, the bylaws explicitly refer to assemblies being held “within the period provided by state law.”³ Ignore that timeline, and you violate both the bylaws and state election law.

Is that the Fat Lady I hear singing in the distance?

Almost forgot this important nugget…

Did you see Brita Horn’s “trust me on insurance, we’ve got it” emails, the kind that always show up right before you learn you’re the one holding the bag.

Her memo says: “We have secured the insurance needed… Please standby for more instructions and information to get you set up with coverage.” Translation: Relax, peasants. The grown-ups have it handled. Don’t ask questions. Don’t look behind the curtain.

Except we can’t “stand by.” Not in 2026. Not after HB24-1067, where Colorado now explicitly requires the state, the Secretary of State, and each political party to ensure the caucus/assembly process remains an accessible ballot path for candidates with disabilities. That means more duties. More compliance. More ways to get sued. More opportunities for Democrats, activists, or opportunists to drop a lawsuit on county volunteers and party officers because something wasn’t “accessible enough.”

So no, a vague email saying “insurance is secured” is not “good news.” It’s a liability grenade with the pin still in. Now let’s talk about the insurance, because the memo gives us exactly zero of the information we need to protect ourselves. The Insurance “Coverage” That Isn’t a Coverage Plan Until We See the Paper. If Brita wants county chairs and volunteers to sleep at night, she needs to answer in writing the following:

1) Who is the actual insurance carrier? Not “we have insurance.” Not “we secured coverage.” Carrier name. Financial rating. Admitted vs non-admitted. If it’s a shaky surplus-lines carrier with exclusions wider than I-25, county chairs deserve to know.

2) What is the policy type: occurrence or claims-made? This matters. A lot.

  • Occurrence covers incidents that happen during the policy period (even if sued later).
  • Claims-made often only covers if the claim is filed while the policy is active — and can have ugly traps if the policy lapses.

3) What are the limits - per occurrence and aggregate? Brita needs to state:

  • Per incident/per occurrence limit
  • General aggregate
  • Defense costs inside or outside the limit
  • Because “$1M coverage” means nothing if defense costs burn it down before the first hearing.

4) What is the deductible / self-insured retention (SIR)? If there’s a $10,000 or $25,000 SIR per claim… who pays? The county? The county chair personally? Volunteers?

5) Who is the Named Insured? Is it:

  • The COGOP only?
  • Each county party?
  • Each county central committee?
  • Each caucus/assembly event committee?

If counties are not properly included, you’re basically uninsured with better paperwork.

6) Are county chairs, assembly chairs, volunteers covered as “insured persons”?

Brita’s memo says “operate… with protection,” but protection for who?

If the policy only covers the state party entity, county leaders could be left hanging.

7) Additional insured status: who needs it, and how is it issued? Venues often require additional insured endorsements. So do partners, landlords, sometimes even cities.

Brita needs to tell counties:

  • Do we get Certificates of Insurance (COIs)?
  • Do we get the actual endorsements?
  • Who requests them?
  • How fast?
  • Who signs?

8) Does coverage include ADA/disability-access claims and “failure to accommodate” allegations?

With HB24-1067 emphasizing accessibility in caucus/assembly ballot access, this is not a theoretical issue. We need confirmation whether the policy covers:

  • Accessibility disputes
  • Discrimination allegations
  • Injunctive relief defense (often excluded)
  • Attorneys’ fees exposure (often huge)

9) What are the exclusions?

This is where insurers bury the bodies. We need to see exclusions for:

  • “Intentional acts” (broadly defined)
  • Employment practices (if volunteers are treated as “workers”)
  • Contractual liability (venue contracts can trigger this)

10) Does it include Directors & Officers (D&O) coverage? If party officers make decisions that lead to lawsuits (credentialing fights, access disputes, ballot access, etc.), D&O is usually the policy line that matters.

11) What is the claims reporting process? Who reports a claim? How quickly? To whom? If counties don’t follow reporting requirements, insurers deny claims.

What County Chairs Should Demand Immediately Not later. Not “stand by.” Immediately:

  1. Full policy declarations page
  2. Coverage summary written in plain English
  3. Endorsements list
  4. Certificate of Insurance process (request form + turnaround time)
  5. Written confirmation that counties + county officers + volunteers are insureds
  6. Written confirmation on accessibility-related claims given the HB24-1067 environment

One More Problem Brita Isn’t Mentioning: Timing and Deadlines

Bottom Line

Brita’s memo is not a plan. It’s a press release. If she wants county chairs and volunteers to take on the legal risk of running caucuses and assemblies under a state that’s increasingly eager to regulate and litigate political participation, she needs to stop sending Hallmark thank-you notes and start sending actual insurance facts.

Because if a lawsuit hits and it will (in my opinion), nobody is going to accept “we were told to stand by” as a defense.

It’s Not Your Problems: It’s Your Allergy to Solving Them

Here’s the uncomfortable truth the Colorado Republican establishment keeps tripping over like a rake in a cartoon. “The issue is not that we have problems - the issue is that we have problems with our problems.”

Every serious political movement faces challenges over time. Voter registration gaps (like what we are seeing in Colorado with UAF’s). Messaging failures. Demographic shifts. A hostile media environment. None of that is unique to Colorado Republicans. What is unique is how our state party responds to those realities with denial, finger-pointing, and a frantic rush to silence the true grassroots when they ask obvious questions.

Let’s talk voter rolls (as this is the hot topic of the day) because numbers, inconvenient as they are, have a nasty habit of refusing to shut up. Recent releases and analyses of Colorado’s voter registration data show exactly what true grassroots activists have been warning about for years: a rapidly expanding bloc of unaffiliated voters now dominates the electorate, and worse, they increasingly dominate the party decision-making process itself. Through open primaries and establishment appeasement, the Colorado GOP has accomplished outsourcing its future to voters who have no loyalty to Republican values and principles. And then party leadership acts shocked when turnout collapses, candidates waffle, and elections are lost by razor-thin margins or worse, the “blowout”.

You don’t fix a leaking roof by arguing that rain is unfair. You fix it by getting on the ladder. But Colorado GOP leadership doesn’t want a ladder. They don’t want conservative conviction. They want “electability”, which is code for, “don’t scare the unaffiliateds who already aren’t voting for us.”

Here’s the real problem: The true grassroots sees the problems clearly: weak candidates, watered-down platforms, donor-class gatekeeping, and a party terrified of its own base. The establishment sees those same problems and says, “Yes, but if we just didn’t talk about them, we can win.” That’s not a strategy. That’s cowardice with a consulting fee.

Bold positions win elections. Clear values mobilize voters. Contrast creates turnout. The Republican Party didn’t build its brand by being a wallflower, managerial, and perpetually apologetic. It won when it stood for something: smaller government, secure elections, parental rights, law and order, and a cultural backbone stiff enough to withstand a social media tantrum.

Instead, the party insists we are to soften the language, trim the principles, and trust the same people who’ve been losing for a decade plus to suddenly start winning if only the true grassroots would sit down and behave. No. Absolutely not! The issue is not that Colorado Republicans face hard problems. The issue is that too many in leadership are offended by the existence of those problems and hostile to anyone who points them out and advocates for change. Until the Colorado GOP chooses courage over comfort, vision over appeasement, and conviction over consultant-approved mush, don’t expect different results.

Elections aren’t lost because conservatives are too bold. They’re lost because the party is too afraid to be anything.

All you need to know about Gabe Evens is up here!

Deep State Pawn

Gabe Evans Sells Out Kids after Selling Out our

Border Security

Look at that, Gabe Evans of CD8, a so-called "conservative" hero, unmasking himself as just another squishy RINO in a red tie. Representative Gabe Evans, from Colorado CD8, has been strutting around like he's the next big thing in the GOP. But let's peel back the layers on this good old Gabe, shall we? Because if you're a true conservative in Colorado, and I mean the kind who actually believes in protecting kids. Evans just gave you every reason to boot him out in the upcoming CD8 primary.

First off, let's talk about his vote just yesterday (12/17), which has got good conservatives’ blood boiling here in Colorado and across our nation. Evans sided AGAINST the Protect Children’s Innocence Act (https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/3492/text)Yeah, you heard that right. This bill, sponsored by Marjorie Taylor Greene, would have slapped felony charges on doctors who pump kids full of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or worse, slice them up in the name of "gender-affirming care." We're talking chemical castration and irreversible surgeries on minors who can't even vote or buy a beer yet. I call it what it is: state-sanctioned child mutilation, a barbaric experiment that's leaving a trail of regret, suicides, and broken bodies in its wake. And what does Evans do? He votes NO, joining a handful of RINOs like Brian Fitzpatrick and Mike Lawler in essentially greenlighting this horror show.

Click Here to see the Vote

Why? Who knows, maybe he's got woke donors whispering in his ear. But make no mistake, by opposing this ban, Evans is assisting in the very mutilation of vulnerable kids. It seems Gabe has traded the stars and stripes in for the rainbow flag of regret.

But wait, there's more, because before Evans betrayed our kids. He co-sponsored the so-called "Dignity Act of 2025," which is just fancy Washington-speak for amnesty on steroids. Introduced alongside Maria Salazar, this bipartisan boondoggle hands out legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants, basically a welcome mat for border-jumpers. True conservatives know better; amnesty isn't reform; it's surrender.

And don't get me started on his die-hard supporters, those wide-eyed fans who still chant "Gabe's our guy!" like it's a cult mantra. You know the ones who overlook his squishy record because he's the incumbent who has a nice smile and a badge from his cop days. Wake up, people!! This isn't the man who'll fight for your family; he's the one who'd rather play nice with the left than stand firm on real conservative values and principles. They defend him like he's the second coming of Reagan, but Reagan wouldn't touch this nonsense with a ten-foot pole.

Evans' cult supporters will spin this as "pragmatic" or "compassionate," but let's call it what it is: a betrayal of everything a true Colorado conservative stands for. Ditch Gabe Evans, vote for Adam De Rito for CD8 this primary, a real fighter, and let's protect our kids and borders before it's too late. Voting for Gabe Evans, YOU are complicit in the mutilation and invasion Evans is enabling.

Evans' Medicaid Misdirection:

Still Selling Out Kids with a Smirk

Ah, the plot thickens in the tragic comedy that is Gabe Evans' congressional career. Just when you thought his Nay vote on the Protect Children's Innocence Act (H.R. 3492) couldn't get any more spineless. Gabe trots out on the Jeff and Bill Show to play defense. "Look over here!" he essentially whines, pointing to his support for the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act (H.R. 498) like it's some grand shield against child mutilation. Oh, please. As if banning federal Medicaid bucks from funding puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries on kids is enough to wash away his betrayal. Newsflash, Gabe: It's not. And true conservatives using their brains in Colorado aren't buying your load of BS.

Let's break this down for the slow learners in Evans' fan club. Sure, H.R. 498 stops taxpayer dollars via Medicaid from bankrolling these barbaric procedures: chemical castration and Frankenstein-level surgeries on minors who can't even legally get a tattoo. Good start, right? Except, as any real conservative knows, that's like plugging one leak in a sinking ship while ignoring the iceberg that’s upon you. Woke NGOs, activist foundations, and state-level loopholes (Colorado is full of them) will just reroute the funds. Heck, outfits like Planned Parenthood or gender clinics backed by billionaire donors will step in, and guess where their cash often traces back? Yup, indirectly to YOU and ME, the U.S. taxpayers, through grants and subsidies. Evans' "solution" is a band-aid on a 50-cal gunshot wound, ineffective and insulting.

But wait, it gets more nauseating. As a former cop, Evans preaches "compassion" for these so-called doctors, refusing to back felony charges under H.R. 3492. Felonies, you see, would revoke licenses and make reinstatement a nightmare, permanent accountability for butchering kids' bodies and futures. Instead, Gabe prefers they have their licenses negated. Poof! A few years later, they can and mostly would reapply for their license. It's amnesty for mutilators, folks. Sound familiar? That's right, mirrors his co-sponsorship of the Dignity Act of 2025, that amnesty extravaganza handing legal status to millions of illegals. Evans isn't protecting borders or bodies; he's the king of half-measures and hall passes for the guilty.

And his die-hard supporters? Those starry-eyed loyalists chanting "Gabe's pragmatic!" while ignoring the wreckage? There is no hiding for voters in CD8, a vote for Gabe Evans in the upcoming primary states you are enabling this embarrassment. Gabe strutted on the Jeff and Bill radio show, spinning yarns about "better votes," but it's all just BS. This isn't leadership; it's limp-wristed capitulation to the left's gender cult. Another question is, “What did Gabe Evans get for his H.R. 3492 NAY vote?”

Voters in CD8, this is your chance to flush this fraud in the primary. Ditch Evans for a true fighter like Adam De Rito, someone who won't hide behind excuses while kids suffer irreversible harm. Vote Evans, and you're voting for the mutilation machine.

A Primary Is Not a Rebellion

It’s What Happens When You Betray Your Party Base

Patriots, once again, the Republican anxiety couch has been dragged into the living room. The alarm bells are ringing. Chicken Little, the sky is falling. Why? Because Adam DeRito is primarying incumbent Gabe Evans in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.

And apparently, to some people, that’s an outrage.

Let me say this slowly so even the professional excuse-makers can keep up:

That. Is. The. Entire. Point. Of. A. Primary.

Primaries are not loyalty oaths. They are not coronations. They are not “shut up and fall in line” ceremonies for politicians who wander off the reservation and hope no one notices. They exist so voters can decide whether their representative is still representing them, or has decided to audition for polite applause

in Washington.

And in this case, the large portion of the base noticed.

Why? Because Gabe Evans co-sponsored the Dignity Act, a bill that, no matter how aggressively it’s marketed, is amnesty. Amnesty for people who knowingly broke federal law by entering this country illegally. And yes, let’s be crystal clear for the gaslighters in the back:

Illegal entry into the United States is a federal crime.

Not a misunderstanding. Not a paperwork issue. A crime.

Now let’s address the go-to talking point of the Evans defense squad:

“But Trump endorsed him!” Correct. And here’s where facts become inconvenient. Timeline matters:

· April 28, 2025 â€” Donald J. Trump endorses Gabe Evans.

· July 15, 2025 â€” Gabe Evans becomes a co-sponsor of the Dignity Act.

Does anyone with a functioning brain honestly believe that Donald Trump, whose political mission is shutting down the border and removing illegal aliens, would have endorsed Gabe Evans after he backed an amnesty bill?

No. He wouldn’t have. And pretending otherwise is intellectual dishonesty wrapped in a fairy tale.

Trump endorsed Evans before the Dignity Act came to light. Period. End of story.

And this isn’t just some abstract policy debate. Look at what’s been uncovered in Minnesota, specifically involving Somali refugee and immigrant networks. We’re talking about massive fraud schemes, siphoning hundreds of millions of dollars from U.S. taxpayers. COVID relief fraud. Food assistance fraud.

Systematic abuse of programs meant to help Americans in need.

These weren’t victimless accounting errors. This was organized theft, your money, my money—ripped straight out of the system while politicians lectured us about “compassion.”

So, forgive grassroots conservatives if they’re not thrilled about Congress handing out amnesty like party favors to a bunch of thieves.

When you tell people who violated federal law, drained public resources, and undermined national sovereignty, “Don’t worry, you can stay,” you don’t get to act shocked when voters revolt.

And that brings us to Adam DeRito.

DeRito didn’t wake up one morning and decide to play spoiler. He’s a decorated veteran, a relentless advocate for military justice, and a man who fought the U.S. Air Force Academy for his own reputation and didn’t back down. He’s lived accountability, not just tweeted about it. He works in Washington on veterans’ issues. He’s engaged on energy, national security, and border enforcement. In other words, he actually reflects the values the grassroots keep demanding.

This primary didn’t have to happen. Gabe Evans could have reversed course. He could have said, “I made a mistake. Amnesty is wrong. Illegal immigration is illegal. Federal law matters.” Conservatives forgive humility. What they don’t forgive is arrogance followed by silence.

Instead, he doubled down. So now there’s a primary. And that’s not division—that’s consequences. If you’re angry about Adam DeRito running, ask yourself why. If you’re still defending an amnesty co-sponsor without demanding accountability, ask yourself what you really believe.

"I have embraced crying mothers who have lost their children because our politicians put their personal agendas before the national good. I have no patience for injustice, no tolerance for government incompetence, no sympathy for leaders who fail their citizens."

Max Brooks Didn’t Come to Denver to “Learn the Ropes.”

He Went to Pull Them Tight

Every January, the Colorado Capitol fills up with a familiar cast of characters: professional politicians, career compromisers, and the kind of “faux-leaders” who show up to work for their own agenda, not yours or mine, and then send a newsletter about their “thoughtful engagement.”

So when Douglas County sends someone who acts like he actually works for the people who elected him, it’s worth saying out loud.

State Rep. Max Brooks, our 2025 freshman Republican in House District 45 (Douglas County), didn’t spend 2025 auditioning for cocktail invitations. He showed up, got assigned to serious committees, and started filing bills that reflect what grassroots conservatives have been screaming for years: stop nickel-and-diming working people, stop worshipping bureaucracy, stop treating election integrity like a conspiracy theory, and stop punishing lawful citizens while criminals get the red-carpet treatment.

And yes, because this is Colorado we all know what tends to happen to conservative reform bills in a legislature where the majority treats accountability like a hate crime. But leadership isn’t measured by how many times the machine applauds you. It’s measured by whether you’re willing to challenge the machine.  Here are the 5 bills Rep. Brooks prime-sponsored in 2025, and what they tell you about the kind of conservative he intends to be.

1. HB25-1282 — Payment Card Network Practices & Fees (“Swipe Fee Fairness…”)

Brooks went after the rigged “swipe fee” ecosystem that quietly bleeds merchants and consumers every time a card is used, especially when taxes and tips are factored into the fee calculation. If you’ve ever wondered why doing business feels like paying tribute to invisible middlemen, this is why.

2. HB25-1216 — State Agencies Implement Zero-Based Budgeting

Here’s a radical idea: make state agencies justify what they spend instead of auto-inflating budgets forever. This bill pushed zero-based budgeting, public transparency for those requests, and periodic audits to verify compliance. That’s not “extreme.” That’s called running a grown-up government.

3. HB25-1143 — Open-Source Software in Voting Systems

Brooks backed a concept that should unite anyone who believes elections should be verifiable: require voting systems to incorporate open-source software, with ongoing reporting by the Secretary of State. Transparency isn’t a threat unless you’re relying on secrecy.

4. HB25-1055 — Repeal Firearm Dealer Requirements & State Permit

Colorado’s anti-gun crowd loves one thing more than criminals: paperwork for law-abiding people. This bill would have repealed the newer dealer permit and compliance regime from HB24-1353, things like mandated permitting, inspections, training requirements, and more, aimed squarely at squeezing the lawful market while pretending it stops crime. Brooks said what we’ve all been thinking: “stop treating legal commerce like contraband.”

5. HB25-1003 — Children Complex Health Needs Waiver (Became Law)

And here’s the part the cynics can’t sneer: Brooks helped pass a bill that became law, merging existing Medicaid waiver programs into a single home-and community-based waiver for children with complex health needs. This is what conservative governing looks like: reforms that actually help families without building another permanent bureaucratic monstrosity.

Douglas County doesn’t need more “nice” Republicans. We’ve got plenty of nice. We need an effective kind of elected officials like Brooks (45) and Branley (39) who don’t fold the second the media clears its throat, or the lobbyists start hovering.

Brooks’ freshman year showed three things that should make grassroots conservatives optimistic heading into 2026. He’s willing to take on systems, not just symptoms (budgeting, elections, fees, regulatory overreach). He understands that conservative leadership means protecting citizens, not managing decline politely.

He can still get real reforms across the finish line when it counts.

So yes, while some officials in Douglas County perfect the art of sounding tough in election season and selling out in governing season, Max Brooks is building a record. And if he keeps that up in 2026, Douglas County might finally have another rare elected official in Colorado politics: A representative who acts like the people are the priority, not the system.

P.S. Look here, folks, I can write a “pleasant” piece for elected officials who truly do a good-to-great job representing us. I’m capable of it. I can even fake warmth if I have to (LOL). But if you get elected, take our votes, and then sell us out… if you turn into another weak-kneed empty vessel who “reaches across the aisle” right behind our backs, then no, you don’t get a gold star. You get the stick as you should.

The Heavenly Divide: Colorado's Gubernatorial Political Arena

Colorado, land of grand mountains and moral avalanches, where the air is thin, the weed is legal, and the politics? Well, let's say it's starting to feel less like a debate over tax rates and more like a Billy Graham stadium crusade. The underlying question buzzing through social media: Is politics a spiritual battle in Colorado? Spoiler alert: If you're paying attention to the 2026 governor's race, you'd have to be spiritually comatose.

Take the crowded Gubernatorial Republican field, where candidates are planting their flags not just in policy papers, but in the fertile soil of faith. We've got Victor Marx, the ministry founder and "high-risk missionary" who's built a life rescuing kids from ISIS and trafficking rings through his “All Things Possible Ministries”. He's not your typical suit-and-tie politician; he's the guy who'd probably quote John 10:10 while vetoing a bill, "The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life." Then there's Scott Bottoms, the pastor-politician from Colorado Springs who's spent over 30 years in ministry at Church at Briargate, a thundering Colorado state representative working to reclaim Colorado from "extreme and destructive policies." These folks aren't shy about their Christian convictions, and why should they be. In a state that's become a veritable altar for every progressive sacrament, from unlimited abortion to gender experiments on kids, it's refreshing to see candidates who actually believe in something everlasting rather than a poll dictating talking points for the week.

Our legislature, is currently gearing up for its 2026 session on January 14, is a Democrat-dominated funhouse where bills like SB25-183 expand taxpayer-funded abortions as if they're handing out free ski passes. Colorado's earned its rep as a "free-for-all abortion state," with no gestational limits because nothing says "progress" like turning the Rockies into a destination for late-term terminations paid for by the residents. Voters even enshrined this in the constitution last year, proving that when it comes to spiritual warfare, the left's idea of "choice" looks an awful lot like ancient child sacrifice to Baal.

Nationally, sure, Christianity's numbers are increasing among younger voters. Pew says only about 52% of Coloradans identify as Christian, with atheists doubling to 8% in the last decade. But here's the sarcasm-laced irony: While the unaffiliated voters multiply like rabbits on craft beer, the faithful in Colorado are waking up just slower than the national averages. More conservatives are realizing that politics isn't just about potholes and property taxes—it's about whether we'll govern by biblical principles or by the whims of whatever gender-fluid guru is trending on social media. I mean, really, would you vote for an atheist all things being equal? Policies matter, but so do the souls steering the ship. If we're seeing a "growing amount of people coming to Christ" amid this chaos, it's because the alternative endless "equity" mandates and "reproductive rights" that end lives is straight out of the Screwtape Letters. C.S. Lewis warned us: "The safest road to Hell is the gradual one, the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts." Barbra Kirkmeyer is the toll booth operator on this road.

So, have I blown it out of proportion? The divide in our legislature is stark: Democrats pushing for more "protections" that erode parental rights (hello, Kelly Loving Act), while conservatives fight for fiscal sanity and actual freedoms. With 10 months to November, six to the primaries, and caucuses and assemblies in between, now's the time to ponder: Will 2026 be our moment to elect a Republican governor with unapologetic Christian steel? Someone like Bottoms or Marx, who sees the spiritual stakes and isn't afraid to call out the darkness?

Only time will tell, but if you're a believer in this grassroots army, don't just ponder pray, organize, and vote like eternity's on the ballot. Because in Colorado, it just might be.

Donald J Trump Fighting for the American People

Patriots, every December we’re told to clap politely while the political class congratulates itself for doing absolutely nothing for the tax bill we all paid. We’re supposed to celebrate norms, process, and historic firsts that somehow always end with Americans poorer, borders wider open, criminals released without bail, and parents treated like extremists for wanting a say in their kids’ education and medical care. Not this year!

While the media was busy hyperventilating over mean tweets and imaginary scandals, President Donald J. Trump spent 2025 doing something that shocked Washington to its core: he governed like the country belongs to its citizens, not the bureaucracy. Just winning. Let take a look at just some of the headlines from the past year, shall we:

Thank you, President Trump, for all the winning in 2025!

"If you're not happy here, you can leave."

Donald J Trump, July 2019

I am very excited to announce the full launch of

“We the People Network”!

www.wtpnetwork.net

Quality Grassroots Conservative News and Opinion:

Where you want it, when you want it.

What is "We The People Network" all about? This is where the Real Grassroots Conservative Patriots roast Libtards and RINO’s!

Hey there, freedom lovers and truth seekers! You've stumbled upon "We the People Network," the digital campfire around which the true grassroots conservatives of Parker, Douglas County, Colorado, and our great Nation gather to warm their hands to the flames of liberty.

Are you tired of the same old song and dance from the UniParty and establishment media, where the story never changes, and the tune is always "more of the same"? Well, pull up your folding chair because we're here to change that up with some good old-fashioned grassroots conservative passion!

Here at "We the People Network," we're not just conservative, we're grassroots conservatively “conservative.” We believe in calling out the Left and just as much the UniParty, Establishment Republicans, and those pesky RINO’s faster than you can say "taxation is theft."

What's on the menu, you ask? A hearty helping of news, opinion, and a side of sarcasm, all served fresh. We're serving up stories that the mainstream media wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole unless, of course, they could use it to prop up their narratives.

Our mission? To embolden you, the backbone of America, with the truth bombs that'll make you the most interesting person at any gathering or, more importantly, at the voting booth. We're here also to support those brave souls running for Republican office who actually remember what the Constitution looks like.

Think of us as your one-stop shop for:

  • News: The kind that doesn't make you feel like you're being sold swampland in Washington, DC.
  • Opinion: Rants with the sharpness of a skilled surgeon.
  • Activism: Because shouting at your TV only does so much.

Think of us like Turning Point’s rowdy older uncle, who shows up to the family reunion in his pick-up, 12 pack under his arm, a cigar, holding a megaphone. We're here to amplify the grassroots conservative voice, ensuring that "We the People" isn't just a catchy preamble but a living, breathing movement.

So, if you're ready to join the ranks of the informed, the irked, and the outright indignant, welcome aboard. Let's expose some Leftist Progressives, UniParty, Establishment Republicans, RINOs, and those new Trans-Republicans, and support our fellow patriots, and maybe, just maybe, save the republic one click at a time.

"Everybody has an opportunity in America. I don’t care if guys whine and complain about this or that. You know, no country affords its inhabitants the opportunities

that the U.S.A. gives to its people.”

Bobby Knight

So, a question you might have is, “Why Honey Badger”?

Honey Badgers have been described in the Guinness Book of Records as the "most fearless animal in the world" and can even fight off much larger predators like lions and hyenas if challenged. We know the political landscape is filled with hyenas, thus, we need the Honey Badger.

"You may think that I'm a confrontational jerk, and you may be right. But the confrontational jerk community serves an important purpose. No cultural battle can be won or has ever been won anywhere in the world without us.

You need us, whether you like it or not."

RINO Watch Colorado

Mission Statement

RINO Watch Colorado is the voice of grassroots Republicans, and the one-stop resource for news, editorials, websites and podcasts that cut through the Establishment and liberal spin.

We expose RINOs and support grassroots Patriots. We are a collective of grassroots activists.

A RINO is a Republican In Name Only.  Someone who claims to be Republican but whose actions show they have abandoned GOP principles.  RINOs often work in tandem with Democrats to destroy grassroots Republicans.
