Eagle
Congratulations from the Honors College at Florida Gulf Coast University on your acceptance to FGCU. Your strong academic record qualifies you to apply for admission to the Honors College, a community of dedicated and diverse students, faculty, and staff that pursue excellence through scholarly advancement, community engagement, leadership development, and cultural enrichment.
Join our community. Approximately 1,200 FGCU students with representation from every major call the Honors College home. Engage in the community and attend social events like Grocery BINGO, Thanksgiving dinner and paint night. Learn from our guest lecturers and professional development events. Make a new friend and create traditions in our Harry Potter-style social house community - not affiliated with housing and residence life.
Choose your path. There are three curricular paths to reflect your interests and goals with our flexible approach. Forget what you know about high school honors, because the Honors College is different. Honors courses at FGCU are not harder; instead, they are smaller and include hands-on, experiential work. Honors is not extra work tacked on top of the requirements for your major.
Connect with a mentor. All First-Time-In-College students work with one of our 40+ experienced student mentors who will help you stay connected to the Honors College and FGCU throughout your first year. From finding the housing bus schedule and printing in the library, to connecting with professors on research projects, your mentor is here for you.
Live with your peers. In South Village first year housing, live and learn with your community on the Honors College Floor in Palmetto Hall. After your first year, you can transition to the Honors building along the water of the campus beach in North Lake Village. Honors Housing is optional.
Register for courses sooner. Honors College students enjoy the benefit of priority registration, a two-week head start on registering for classes. Make your selections and build your ideal schedule.
Utilize development funds. Whether you want to study abroad, present at a conference, purchase research materials or develop your Honors Thesis – apply for Honors College development funds. This funding supplements experiential learning activities.
