The Hoofbeat: February 2019
Why are we so nuts about horses?
In honor of Valentine's Day happening this month, I thought it was only appropriate to highlight a study done by the Institute of HeartMath which explains the powerful connection between horse and human. And believe it or not, it has to do with our HEARTS!

According to researchers, there is a sphere of energy produced by the human heart that ranges from 8 to 10 feet around us. The sphere of energy produced by the horse's heart is five times larger than the human one. Not only is their sphere larger than ours, but it can also actually influence our own heart rhythm!

In short, often times we only need to be in the presence of horses to "feel better" or to feel a sense of wellness and peace. People may experience many physiological benefits while interacting with horses. These benefits include lowered blood pressure and heart rate, decreased stress levels; reduced feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety; improved social functioning; and increased feelings of empowerment, trust, patience, and self-efficacy.

In short, we should all go spend more time with horses. It's good for theheart and soul!
