THE HOPE OF THE RACE FAMILY LIFE SERIES

St. Maarten’s Philipsburg Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church’s Hope of The Race Family Life Series harvested two additions to the church membership following its two weeks of evangelistic meetings focused on improving family life.
From October 2nd to 16th, 2022, Philipsburg SDA Church hosted a family life series with guest evangelist Pastor Adrian Johnson from Jamaica. Pr. Johnson - who also serves as the Director of Family & Men's Ministries for the East Jamaica Conference, spoke on several somewhat unconventional themes under topics such as; “God’s Plan For The Family, Parenting The Godly Way, Marry Or Burn and How To Satisfy Your Spouse.”
The nightly attendance of the series reflects a vivid contrast between physical church attendance and online viewership. Aside from the two Saturdays that the church was expectedly almost filled to capacity. The nightly attendance recorded an average of 20 congregants. On the contrary, the average number of nightly viewers were 762 with peaks over 1000 on Saturdays.

Congregants said that the messages were inspiring and - in some cases, provided a different approach to what family life is all about.

Pastor of the Philipsburg Church Vashni Cuvalay said that he believes the series was a blessing to families and that relationships have been improved as a result of the nightly messages. “We had two accessions, and we have many more who need further studies. l believe families have been blessed as a result of this series and their relationships have been strengthened.”

Pastor Hesketh Matthew, Personal Ministries Director of the North Caribbean Conference, added that he commends Philipsburg SDA Church for creating opportunities for living a well-balanced life.

He said, “It was the second evangelistic impact executed in partnership with the Jamaica Union of Seventh-day Adventist. The two weeks series organized by host Pastor Vashi Cuvalay, saw attendees both in-person and on virtually. Commendations to Philipsburg Church for its persistence and vigilance in creating opportunities for persons to encounter Christ and receive practical, pertinent information on living a well-balanced and hopeful life.”

As the church continues to plan future projects to impact its communities and spread the gospel, its leadership extends its gratitude to all who assisted in the execution of the series and who were present to receive its messages.

The Philipsburg SDA Church is one of the nine Seventh-day Adventist churches and companies located on the island of St. Maarten.
