A Message from Dale Selover | |
I have called you by name, you are mine...
You are precious in my sight and honored and I love you. Isaiah 43
| |
Dear House Next Door Community,
On more than one occasion, I have heard my wise colleague, Ruth, say, "Jesus tells us to 'Love our neighbor as ourselves.' I can't help but wonder, what if we loved ourselves as we love our neighbors?"
I understand what Ruth is saying. Too often we are our own worst enemy -- doubting ourselves, judging ourselves, not trusting ourselves, not taking care of ourselves. I have no doubt that when we think like that, it breaks God's heart.
God's gift to us is love. Unconditional love. No strings attached love. God's greatest desire is for us to know God's love that we might love ourselves and neighbor.
| |
During this "love month", when we see hearts scattered everywhere inviting us to love, I invite
you to rest in God's love. Below are numerous opportunities for you to do just that -- to rest in God's love, to hear and experience in a variety of ways how much God loves you.
God loves you. Just as you are. Rest in that love. It is the first step in loving yourself and your neighbor.
With Love,
Dale

Are you ready to consider all the steps from Contrition to Repair that await those who believe in the power of Jesus Christ's resurrection? Reconciliation and renewal are never lost causes, but just waiting to find and be found by you this Lent.

Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development
Director, Lynn Miller
|
People of faith and seekers have traveled on pilgrimage across the centuries. Becoming a pilgrim pushes us outside our usual routines and comfort zones, inviting us to experience the world, others, ourselves, and God in new ways. Through crossing thresholds, meeting challenges, practicing flexibility, welcoming what is new and different, and reflecting on the journey, pilgrimage has the power to effect lasting change in our lives.
