| | 2026 Commissioners Conference | | In early January, the HACC Board of Commissioners, along with CEO Lily Walton, Deputy Director Jennifer Clemson-Ferguson, YouthBuild Director Shevone Myrick, Director of Finance Miguel Manero, and Manager of Policy and Strategic Initiatives Jahlinea Cekander were in attendance. Becca Obuchowski was the only board member unable to attend. | | HACC held our Winter All-Staff Meeting, and it was the perfect way to celebrate an incredible year together. We reflected on our accomplishments, recognized the power of teamwork, and shared the goals to bring into 2026. | | This holiday season, HACC had our annual Adopt-A-Family program for our residents. Because of this incredible effort, we were able to support 24 families and 58 children, helping bring joy and holiday magic to so many homes. A huge thank-you to Carle Hospital and Kraft Inc. for going above and beyond by personally adopting three families each — supporting a total of 10 children each. | | | |
Winter Homeownership Seminar
On December 5th and 6th, HACC hosted two Homeownership Informational Sessions
featuring Carter Salvani of Keller Williams Real Estate and Derrick Helm of First Mid Bank.
Participants received practical guidance for first-time homebuyers.

| YouthBuild Mental Toughness for Cohort 14 | | |
January 12th, HACC YouthBuild launched the Mental Toughness phase for its 14th Cohort.
Participants completed academic readiness assessments in ELA and Math and engaged in activities focused on emotional regulation, artistic expression, and essential life skills. The Mental Toughness phase concludes on Friday, January 23rd, with YouthBuild programming beginning on January 28th.
| | Back to School Winter Day Camp | | We were proud to host an event with DREAAM where 100 youth were served throughout the day with breakfast and lunch provided. Our youth heard powerful messages from the mayors of Champaign, Urbana, and Rantoul, along with the Champaign and Urbana Chiefs of Police. | |
Winter Senior Bingo
This past December, HACC hosted our Winter Holiday Bingo, and the seniors were their usual competitive selves! Along the way, participants received fun treats, festive trinkets, and holiday stockings, making the afternoon feel extra special. It was a joyful way to spread holiday cheer, share smiles, and enjoy time together as a community.

The HUD FSS Program empowers families to achieve financial independence. By offering financial incentives, case management, and supportive services, it helps participants increase their income, save for future goals, and break out of the cycle of poverty. Through this program, families can gain the tools and resources needed to build a brighter future for themselves.
