NAHRO 2025 Washington Conference at Capitol Hill

Representing our organization at NAHRO WashCon and on Capitol Hill, Deputy Director Jennifer Ferguson and YouthBuild Director Shevone Myrick had the privilege of engaging with key decision-makers. They met with Senators, Congresspersons, and participated in Capitol Hill Day meetings with lawmakers to discuss critical issues surrounding affordable housing and community development. These conversations are vital for ensuring our communities have the resources they need to thrive.

YouthBuild Insights

Our 2025 YouthBuild Graduates spent a day decorating their Caps and trying on their Gowns as they prepared for their graduation! The celebration was made even better by a visit from CU Church, who generously sponsored a Chick-fil-A lunch for the graduates.

YouthBuild Alumni Address the Illinois House of Representatives Appropriations Committee for Secondary Education

We are proud to share that two YouthBuild alumni from the Class of 2021, Traeton Woods and Asharie Williams, had the opportunity to address the Illinois House of Representatives Appropriations Committee for Secondary Education. Their experiences exemplify the successful outcomes of the YouthBuild program, which equips young people with skills and opportunities for meaningful careers. Traeton is thriving in the Sheet Metal Workers Union and as a coach, and Asharie is making a difference at the Housing Authority of Champaign County serving senior citizens in affordable housing communities.
