Recently, the SJCT hosted a multi-platform presentation about the Howe House, also known as the "Freed Slave House" and the history of slavery and the underground railroad in NJ.
Frank Godlewski, an architect, author of Pirates, Slaves and the Meadowlands Fire, and a roots researcher with the NJ Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Geneological Society (NJ AAHGS) presented about his work. And Janice Cross-Gilyard, the president of the NJ AAHGS, presented on her personal genealogy research, the work of the NJ AAHGS, and her collaboration with Frank on the Freedom Route Project.
