THE HUMANE HAND:

A resource for developing careful and confident livestock handlers in meat plants.

New this Fall: Virtual Reality Goggles!

It is important to keep in mind that animals see the world a lot differently than we do! When handling livestock on farm, for transport, in livestock markets, or in slaughter establishments, we can often feel frustrated that an animal isn’t moving the way that we want it to or stopping at a specific point in the process. We are excited to include new virtual reality technology into our trainings this fall that will allow the user to see the world through the eyes of cattle! Experience the wide range of view, blind spot, depth perception, pupil dilation and dichromatic color scheme that is specific to cattle in our upcoming workshops!

Captive Bolt Service

Want your captive bolt serviced by a trained Humane Handing Institute team member? You can send it to us! For a low cost of $400 per captive bolt, we will replace all commonly worn parts, diagnose problems, give a final inspection and send it back to you! Please email us at hhi@uwrf.edu if you are interested in this offer.
