January 26, 2026 / Robert S. Hyer Elementary School

Dear Hyer Families,

As you have likely seen in the District Newsletter and on social media, January is National School Board Appreciation Month. As January draws to a close, I would like to take this last week of the month to acknowledge the important work of our HPISD School Board. While our Board members are elected by the community, holding a place on a school board is a volunteer position - one that is most definitely a labor of love and sacrifice.

Our School Board members volunteer countless hours to help guide important decisions that support student learning, staff, operations, and the overall success of our schools. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but it has a meaningful impact on our classrooms, programs, school community and district, every single day.

We are grateful for the leadership, commitment, and service of our HPISD School Board. You can use this link to learn more about each one of our School Board members. If you see a board member in the community or at a school event, a simple “thank you” goes a long way in showing appreciation for all they do.

Have an amazing weekend! Stay warm and be safe.

Warm regards,

Debbie

SISSY GOFF

What a privilege to have Sissy Goff at our school! Thank you to all the parents who attended! Her message was so encouraging and imparted so much wisdom on how to parent in practical, grace-filled ways. Simply taking care of our own mental health, setting a good example for our kids to follow, and teaching them how capable they are - we can all be on the right track to crushing parenthood!

Sissy Goff and David Thomas have a new book coming out that can be pre-ordered, titled "Capable : How to Teach Your Kids the Strength, Skills & Strategies to Build Resilience"

DADS CLUB

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE

Hyer Dads - We are excited about the upcoming Hyer Daddy Daughter Dance on Wednesday, February 25th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Dallas Country Club.

If you have not already registered, please do so. See the Back-to-School-Signup DDD Registration list below/attached. If you are not on this list and have not registered in recent weeks, you have NOT registered. Please sign-up.

We are expecting at least 40-50 additional registrations between now and the event itself. If you've attended in the past, you recognize this is a nice event for our girls and they love it. The cost to host at the Dallas Country Club with a DJ and photo booths along with the food and an open (note: cash) bar is a meaningful cost. The Registration fees (hopefully) pay for the event itself.

For this year's event, we will have surprise guests with the appearance of several of the Highland Belles. Their director, Shannon, has agreed to send her team which will thrill our girls.

Over the coming weeks, we will update the registration site to donate directly to the Belles and another option to donate directly to the Dads Club, which will ultimately go to our beloved teachers. The Dads Club donations will be a voluntary option as opposed to a much larger sponsor solicitation like we've had in the past.

Much appreciated. See you on February 25th!

Chris Sears and Clint Coe, Hyer Dads Club Event Chairs
