September 29, 2025 / Robert S. Hyer Elementary School

Dear Hyer Families,

We are six full weeks into the school year and on the heels of October. Our huskies have been busy learning, acclimating to school routines and having fun with new and old friends, all of which have been a great success!

This is an exciting week for us as we will have our first Good Morning Hyer assembly on Friday. When students arrive Friday, they will all be directed to the gym. Teachers will remind students of this throughout the week, and we will have staff members directing students towards the gym as they arrive.

This assembly is an event for our students where we will recognize a child from each class as our Husky Hero of the month for demonstrating the character trait of respect. Students still have a couple days this week to earn Husky Hero tickets for showing respect for our school, each other and staff. Please encourage them; they LOVE earning these tickets. We look forward to celebrating our students for being great role models in their classrooms and in our school.

Humbly,

Debbie

KC CLUB PET FOOD DRIVE STARTS THIS FRIDAY!

The 4th Grade KC Club (Kindness and Compassion Club) is kicking off its first community service project of the year! The club will be collecting UNOPENED dog and cat food, treats, and bath towels to donate to Operation Kindness. Operation Kindness is a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and, most of all, a home.

The food drive begins this Friday, October 3rd and will continue through Tuesday, October 14th. Donation bins will be located in the hallways and at the Caruth entrance.

KC Club members are very enthusiastic about helping cats and dogs in this lifesaving animal shelter, as well as having the pet food bank re-stocked and ready for the fall. Thank you in advance for your generous donations. Please contact Community Service Chair Nellie Dunn  with any questions.

- Megan Conlon, y'all! She crushed leading the Fall Gift Committee with thoughtful conversations and brilliant spreadsheets. Thanks to YOU (our incredible PTA sponsors, donors, and members), we are able to gift Hyer with everything our school needs to be cream of the crop!

- Take a look around the garden... Brooke Noffsinger is tending to our grounds and making sure our garden has the TLC it needs with a fixed gate and fresh flooring.

- Kristin Evans, putting her heart, soul, and planning hat on to create a magical, well-organized year for the 4th grade class!

- Jen Melson and Ann Higginbottom - y'all fed our teachers' bellies and nourished their souls with a fantastic Teacher Appreciation Lunch on Friday! You care for our MVPs so well!

- Rachel Dougherty - I know coordinating volunteers and sign-ups is an old hat for you - but it's one that you have mastered and we are SO appreciative. How else would our over-eager volunteers stay coordinated with time slots and jobs?!
