September 28, 2026 / Robert S. Hyer Elementary School

We are just over five weeks into the school year and on the heels of October. Our huskies have been busy learning, acclimating to school routines and having fun with new and old friends. The teachers and staff have been treated to an appreciation breakfast from Dads Club, and a lunch from Mi Cocina hosted by our PTA - thank you very much!

This is an exciting week for our Huskies as we will have a few "firsts": Book Fair, Dads & Daughters Donut event and our Good Morning Hyer assembly. The Book Fair opens Tuesday afternoon to all families and will be open through Friday morning. Dads, Daughters and Donuts is Friday morning prior to our Good Morning Hyer Assembly. When students arrive Friday morning, they will all be directed to the gym; daughters having donuts with dads will head to the gym after the event. Teachers will remind students of these events and procedures throughout the week, and we will have staff members directing students towards the gym as they arrive for our assembly.

Good Morning Hyer is an event for our students where we will recognize a child from each class as our Husky Hero of the month for demonstrating the character trait of respect. Students still have a few days this week to earn Husky Hero tickets for showing respect for our school, each other and staff. Please encourage them; our kiddos LOVE earning these tickets. We look forward to celebrating our students for being great role models in their classrooms and in our school.

Kindly,

Debbie

Your wisdom and experience is a blessing to us all. As you see Principal Burt in the hallways or standing at the doors, give her a high five, fist bump or hug to let her know how much we love her!

KC CLUB: PET FOOD DRIVE STARTS THIS FRIDAY!

The food drive begins this Friday, October 2nd and will continue through Tuesday, October 13th. Donation bins will be located in the hallways and at the Caruth entrance.

KC Club members are very enthusiastic about helping cats and dogs in this lifesaving animal shelter, as well as having the pet food bank re-stocked and ready for the fall. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.
