Dear Hyer Families,
As Teacher Appreciation Week begins this week, I want to thank you all again for the many ways you support and care for the incredible staff members at Hyer. Your time, gifts, words of encouragement, and partnership with our teachers is invaluable to the success of every student in our school.
We are blessed to have a PTA whose mission includes supporting the needs of our staff, celebrating them often, and caring for each and every staff member. Thanks to your generous support, the PTA has provided many treats for us throughout the year and this week, they have amazing week planned that will spoil each of us with treats and surprises. What a gift! We are grateful for your contributions that make this week, and every teacher appreciation event, so special for all of us.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the outstanding educators at Hyer who continue to have such a positive impact on our community and children.
The end of the rodeo at Boot Scootin' Hyer is in sight. I look forward to the fun weeks ahead and making memories with our students during the last few weeks of school!
Humbly,
Debbie

This week, we celebrate the heart of our school—our incredible teachers and staff. Every day, you show up with patience, creativity, and dedication, shaping not only young minds but confident, kind, and curious individuals.
From early mornings to late afternoons, from lesson plans to comforting hugs, your impact reaches far beyond the classroom. You inspire a love of learning, encourage growth, and create a safe, welcoming place where every child can shine.
To our amazing Hyer Husky teachers and staff—thank you for the countless ways you go above and beyond, often without recognition, to make a difference in the lives of our students and families.
Our school is stronger because of you, and our Huskies are brighter because of your care. We appreciate you today and every day. 💙🐾
Here is what the PTA has in store for this week to spoil our teachers!

| | | SCHOOL NURSE APPRECIATION DAY IS WEDNESDAY! | | School Nurse Appreciation Day is this Wednesday, May 6th! We are excited to show our very own Husky Hero, Nurse Rather, how much we appreciate her. She shows every child so much love, and treats each of our Huskies with kindness and patience. We are very grateful for her dedication, commitment and countless hours of hard work. Thank you, Nurse Rather, for the love you pour into our school! | | |
As we are drawing near to the end of school, please stop by and pick up all medication that you have for your child in the clinic. Any medication not picked up on the last day of school will be discarded, as we are not allowed to store medications over the summer. This includes Epi-Pens, inhalers, and all prescription and over-the counter medications. Please contact Nurse Rather with any questions.
Thank you for a wonderful 2025-2026 school year. Have a happy and healthy summer!
| | SAVE THE DATE FOR FIELD DAY MAY 15TH! | | |
Calling all Huskies - get ready for the most fun day of the year! Field Day is coming up on Friday, May 15th, and we can’t wait!!!
We’ll have all your favorite games, plus a big surprise to end the day and celebrate the end of our Boot Scootin’ year.
For the moms asking, brace yourselves — things will look a little different: there will be no grade-level colors! Instead, have your child wear their favorite Hyer t-shirt and come ready for fun. Huskies will receive everything they need to participate when they arrive at school that day!
We need lots of moms and dads to help make this day a great success, so grab your friends and sign-up here!
| | | RETURNING HUSKIES 2026-27 T-SHIRTS | | |
As we look ahead to next year, we’d love your help getting spirit shirts ready early. Please take a moment to complete this quick form to share your child’s t-shirt size for the All School “Hyer Harbor” Spirit Shirt. We’re collecting this information now so shirts are ready at the start of the new school year, rather than waiting on Back to School Sign Up data that typically comes in later.
One form per family—please include all returning students for the 2026 - 2027 school year!
| |
MOVING? BE SURE TO LET HYER KNOW! | |
If your family is moving or your children have been accepted to private school and won't be attending Hyer in the fall, please notify Kim Shelton via EMAIL as soon as possible.
*All withdrawal forms must be completed by the end of the school year.

Want to save a copy of the school directory?
If you wish to save a copy of this year’s directory data from DirectorySpot, you can download a PDF by logging into your account at www.directoryspot.net then select the “Download PDFs” option under the “Directory” tab. The 2025-2026 directory data will be available until it is replaced by the new data at the beginning of the next school year. Leaving the school or district after this year? Be sure to download your PDF, as non-district families are not able to access DirectorySpot.

Thank you to everyone who supported the HPHS Student Council by purchasing the directory this year!
| FIRST GRADERS WILL START CHOOSING A LA CARTE MENU ITEMS NEXT MONDAY, MAY 11TH! | | |
On May 11th, first graders will transition from being served a set lunch to choosing items a la carte. This will be good practice for next year and will help lessen any anxiety about the move to second grade. Please review the menu with your child and talk with them about making healthy choices. Ice cream days for first graders will continue to be Friday only through the end of the school year. Please contact Lorena Escobedo with any questions!
| |
Fourth graders must pay any negative cafeteria balances before the end of the year and their transition to MIS. To help ensure that no fourth grader has a negative balance at the end of the school year, fourth grader cafeteria balances will not be able to fall below negative $10. If any account falls below negative $10, the account in question will be turned off until payment is made. Please make sure your fourth graders have sufficient funds to pay for lunch. Any funds remaining in their account at the end of the year will follow your Husky to MIS.
