Dear Hyer Families,
On Wednesday, our 3rd and 4th graders will take their final state assessment, the STAAR Math test. In preparing our students to come to school, giving their best each day, and especially on testing days, a nutritious breakfast plays a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects of a child's development, making it a crucial meal for elementary-age kids. It is important for all children to start the day with healthy foods, low in sugar.
Longer days/more daylight make it challenging to stay consistent with bedtime routines. A good night's sleep, 8-10 hours for elementary aged students, is critical in supporting emotional regulation and academic focus. As always, arriving to school prior to 7:55 AM, is helpful in promoting a calm, less rushed start to the day, for all students.
Especially as the weather gets warmer outside, please make sure your student has a water bottle. Again, on Wednesday before testing, the playground will be open for our 3rd & 4th graders from 7:30-7:55 AM. A staff member will open the gates when the playground opens. One final reminder, our campus is closed to lunch visitors on STAAR testing days.
The end of the school year is quickly approaching and we want to work with our sweet families to ensure students end the year on a high note. We are grateful for all the ways you assist our students in doing their best every day.
Have an amazing week!
Debbie
