December 15, 2025 / Robert S. Hyer Elementary School

Sweet Hyer Families,

As we approach the end of 2025 and the conclusion of our first semester, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful achievements and experiences our students have had so far. From their classroom accomplishments to the admirable character they show, and through active involvement in PTA and Dads Club events, we are proud of our students’ social and academic growth. It is a privilege to have Ellen Kershaw leading our PTA, and Wynn Radford leading our Dads Club. These committed leaders are steadfast champions for our school and our children.

If you haven't already, please complete the school experience survey sent December 1st by way of district email. Your feedback is appreciated and will be helpful in continuing to make Hyer THE BEST school in town.

On behalf of the Hyer Staff and myself, we wish you and your family a joyful holiday season filled with peace, happiness, and well-deserved rest. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Warm regards,

Debbie

HOLIDAY PARTIES THIS FRIDAY!

Winter Holiday class parties will take place on this Friday, December 19th. Party attendees will be limited to party volunteers. Each family may only have one volunteer per class. There will be other opportunities to attend parties and volunteer in the classroom.

Due to the limited volunteer opportunities, each family may only volunteer in their student’s class for one party.

Because this is also an early release day at 1:00 p.m., the school will not be having lunch time visitors that day, other than volunteers for cafeteria.

Thank you for being considerate and giving everyone a chance to help out!

Times for the parties are as follows:

GIFT IDEAS FOR OUR HUSKY TEACHERS AND STAFF!

Looking for the perfect gift for our amazing Hyer teachers and staff? Look no further! Our educators work tirelessly each day to inspire, support, and shape our children, and the holidays are a wonderful opportunity to show them just how much they mean to us.

We’ve put together a curated list of a few of their favorite things to make gift-giving simple, meaningful, and fun. Whether you’re hoping to surprise a teacher, brighten a staff member’s day, or simply share a token of appreciation, you’ll find plenty of thoughtful ideas.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE KC CLUB'S TOY DRIVE!

The Toy Drive benefitting Brother Bill’s Helping Hand was a huge success! The KC Club Outreach Committee delivered 6 trunks full of toys and lots of joy to Brother Bill’s on Tuesday, December 9th. Students and chaperones enjoyed a brief tour and presentation on how the children receive the toys. We heard about the amazing Christmas event Brother Bill’s puts on for about 2,500 kids. They will have hot chocolate, snacks, a movie and pictures with Santa. Parents will secretly shop the toys and each child will receive 3 presents on Christmas morning they may not otherwise have. Amazing work donating toys and blessing the lives of so many children, Huskies!!!

HPISD SCHOOL SURVEY

Parents and staff, this is a reminder that the School Experience Survey launched on Monday, Dec. 1st. The primary contact for each student should have received an email from a third-party administrator with a link to participate. If you don’t see it in your inbox, please check your spam folder.

In addition to parent feedback, we will also be gathering input from all teachers and students in grades 3–12. If you would like to opt your child out of the survey, please complete THIS form, print it, and send it to your child’s homeroom teacher. The opt-out form must be submitted by December 4th.

The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, Dec. 19th. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us recognize our strengths and identify areas for improvement. Thank you for your participation!
