March 02, 2026 / Robert S. Hyer Elementary School

Dearest Hyer Families,

We are kicking off the week with excitement as we celebrate our Grandfriends today and welcome our families to Open House on Tuesday evening. Our students and teachers have been working diligently to prepare for these events, and they are thrilled to host all of our special guests at Hyer this week. Grandfriends will enjoy grade-level performances, and all our guests are sure to see high-quality student work displayed throughout the building and in classrooms. I couldn’t be more proud of our teachers and students and the work they do each day.

As you are likely aware, HPISD is in the process of selecting a new math resource K-12, to be adopted for the 2026-2027 school year. I encourage you to visit the math textbook adoption community review located at the Administration Building or, view the resources digitally and complete a feedback form on the HPISD Instructional Materials Adoption Process site. Feedback will be collected through March 12th.

Teachers across the district have already provided very thorough feedback on each resource and have been able to vote for their preference. Please take some time to become familiar with the resources through a parent lens, to provide feedback and select one that you feel best meets the needs of your child(ren). Thank you in advance for your support of this important process.

Gratefully,

Debbie

- Round of applause & standing ovation for Megan Conlon - a new excel spreadsheet wizard! She conquered PTA's spring gifting - where we allocate the funds raised by our PTA and put them to good use!

- And where would we be without Misty Wall?! Our fearless, financial leader! Misty, we might as well be playing monopoly if not for your guidance and accounting genius.

- To those of you who served on the Spring Gift Committee - THANK YOU! Y'all asked great questions, brainstormed with us and approved our proposed spring gifting! It is such a JOY to get to decide where our funds will go.

- Katey Plummer and Patty Georgeadis - it has been a BUSY spring for y'all and you have not skipped a beat or missed a detail. Thank you for all you did to pull off Grandfriends day and make it so special.

- No sister-bias here - Ann Higginbottom is our Hyer Hero that saves the day! The amount of times I have volunteered her for jobs cannot be counted. But most recently, I volunteered her to take all the class photos with 2 days notice!

- Dad’s club - wooing their daughters and sweeping them off their feet at their annual Daddy/Daughter Dance! A night never to be forgotten by their little princesses!
