Howdy Hyer Families,

   Wow, we have had the best week with your kids!  The teachers and I continue to be impressed by how easily our huskies have adjusted to school routines, schedules and procedures. Their kindness, sweet manners and enthusiasm for school is inspiring! We have loved watching the kids interact with new friends and reconnect with others. The start of school is always so much fun! 

     A huge shout out to our PTA, under the leadership of Ellen Kershaw, for volunteering their time to sort school supplies, work in the cafeteria, stock the Husky Shop, and decorate for prime photo ops to welcome everyone back to the school year. Additionally, we are grateful for all the generous gifts, meals, snacks and fun treats for the staff which are made possible by ALL of our PTA members. The staff and I are blessed daily by the way you all give your time and resources to make the Hyer experience special for each and every husky.

    We are deeply appreciative of every cowboy and cowgirl at Boot Scootin’ Hyer!

LATE BACK TO SCHOOL SIGN UP ENDS THIS WEEK!

Back-to-school sign up is now closed. If you did not complete BSSU for your student(s), you may register during Late Back-to-School Sign Up, which is available through August 30th, by completing Hyer's Late BSSU Form and submitting payment online. DADS CLUB NEWS!

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN THE DADS CLUB!

The Hyer Dads Club is gearing up for a great 2025-2026! Thanks to those families who joined the Dads Club during BSSU, and for those who missed it, you can still join the Dads Club online by clicking on the link below.

The Dads Club has a full year planned running morning carpool, first Thursday cafeteria duties, social events, service events, and our third annual Poker Tournament.

CALLING ALL DADS - THE FIRST DADS CLUB EVENT OF THE YEAR IS THIS THURSDAY, AUGUST 28TH!

The Dads Club will have our first event of the year this Thursday, August 28th, at The Meat Shop on Lovers Lane from 5-7:00 PM. We'd love to see any dads who are able to make it. There will be light bites (some sort of brisket poppers, sandwiches, and/or street tacos) prepared by The Meat Shop and local beers and non-alcoholic beverages. The event will be outside, on their patio area, so dress accordingly, and let's all hope for good weather. Please note, parking there is limited, but you can utilize adjacent street parking, and carpooling or Uber are also sound options. In order to manage food and beverage needs, we'll send around an RSVP in the next few days so we have an idea of headcount.

The PTA is excited for the Parent Speaker Series featuring speakers on the latest school and parenting topics. DOT DAY!!

International Dot Day is coming soon on Friday September 12th!

What is Dot Day?

International Dot Day, based on the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, is coming up on Friday, September 12th. The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who challenges a student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage and ignites a journey of creativity!

Each year on International Dot Day, the inspiration continues. We are inviting all of our Hyer Huskies to celebrate Dot Day by wearing dots, polka dotted shirts, dots on headbands, dots on socks, a homemade shirt, whatever you can find with dots! Our only request is that students do NOT put dots on their faces. 

Let’s celebrate our creativity on Friday September 12!

Visitor and Birthday Policy

Hyer will have tables inside as well as outside, in Balto's Courtyard, if you would like to have lunch with your student during their lunch period.To help all students adjust to lunchtime routines and build confidence and independence, we kindly ask that parents and guardians wait to come to school for lunch visits until after September 8th.

If your child’s birthday falls before September 8th, you're welcome to join them for a special birthday lunch!

New NO Friend Policy

Please be aware of the school's new no friend policy at lunch. You and your child can no longer ask for a friend to join you when you visit them for lunch. This helps prevent any feelings of exclusion and allows you to enjoy meaningful one-on-one time with your child. Thank you for helping us create a welcoming, supportive environment for all our students!

Dessert

Starting September 15th, students will be allowed to purchase dessert.

• Ice cream will be available for purchase on FRIDAYS ONLY.
• Cookies will be available for purchase TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS for 2nd through 4th grades.

BIKE RODEO ART CONTEST - DUE NEXT WEEK!

It’s almost that time of year again when our little huskies compete to be the artist featured on the annual Bike Rodeo T-shirt! This year, students are encouraged to create their entries for the bike rodeo art contest at home. This year's theme is “Deep in the Heart of Hyer,” and the T-shirt will be yellow.

Mrs. Munsie, our fabulous art teacher, has written up instructions for our the students to use as a guide. Submissions are due on September 5th, so it's not too early to sharpen your crayons & colored pencils & get drawing!
