A series of discussions on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in Johnson County was launched in March and will continue this month and next. The dinners are open to who live or work in Johnson County. The next dinner is scheduled for April 13.
 

Wellness Council of Indiana, an initiative from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, is launching a mental health resource for Hoosier employers. Mental Health First Aid helps employers identify common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use-related challenges, builds understanding on their impact and provides an overview of common supports. The chamber says the Mental Health First Aid series will teach employers how to identify the risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses.

The state has launched a new grant program aimed at high schools wishing to increase career readiness in the area of advanced manufacturing. The grant would allow schools to purchase equipment that exposes students to smart technologies and was modeled after the recently launched Manufacturing Readiness Grant program.


A great way to develop talent and connect to local school systems is by offering internship or apprenticeship programs. There are key differences to these programs, including length of time, formality, and credentialing. Apprenticeship.gov identifies the differences between internship and apprenticeship programs and shares additional resources needed to start an apprenticeship program.
