The International Law Section Gazette | |
Dear ILS,
Not sure where to begin to sum up the success that was iLaw2025. It could be the specialist-led panels throughout the day with standing room only, our luncheon speaker who shared the challenges keeping FIFA’s legal team busy, the networking among lawyers hailing from over 20 countries, the large number of in-house counsel who gave their perspective on differing legal issues, the 3rd Annual ILS Fantasy Football League trophy presentation, or the two packed cocktail parties to open and close the conference. The buzz and enjoyment of iLaw was palpable! This would not have been possible without our Sponsors, iLaw Steering Committee, or the ILS Board – thank you for making each year better and better! We will be sharing more pictures of the conference over the coming days.
In sync with iLaw2025, the ILS also released the Winter 2025 International Law Quarterly, with a Focus on Creative Solutions in International Law. If you didn’t pick up a copy on Friday, you can find it online on the new-and-improved ILS website. Don’t miss out on getting published! Submission proposals for the Spring 2025 edition of the ILQ are due March 10th (more details further below).
Rounding out the week was the Richard DeWitt Memorial Vis Pre-Moot Competition. We had 14 schools compete all day (4 from Florida and the others from all over the world), dozens of volunteer arbitrators, and an incredibly dedicated committee running the show with Priscila Bandeira at the helm. Thank you to JAMS for its 12th year hosting the competition, Arbitration Place for running the virtual hearing rooms, MIAS for presenting the best oralist award, and Duane Morris for sponsoring the awards reception. Congratulations are in order for the Stetson team for winning first place overall as well as having the best individual oralist. We wish all schools the best of luck in Vienna in April!
