The International Law Section Gazette | |
Dear ILS,
For the last year, South Florida has been abuzz with FIFA’s relocation of its legal and compliance team to Coral Gables in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup and the announcement that it plans to stay local for the long haul. Last October, the ILS welcomed FIFA’s legal team at an intimate reception co-hosted by Weiss Serota and EASL, and in February, FIFA Chief Legal and Compliance Officer Emilio García Silvero was our distinguished keynote speaker at iLaw2025. We look forward to continuing to grow the ILS relationship with FIFA, which embodies international law at every level. And now, it is with great pleasure that I get to share with the Section that FIFA has very generously organized a Thank You Reception for The Florida Bar, and in particular members of the ILS and EASL. The reception is taking place next Tuesday, April 29 at 5:15 p.m. at the FIFA offices in Coral Gables. Space is limited and RSVP required, so don’t delay any longer and RSVP here to secure your spot!
Then, on May 14, please join the ILS for its final Lunch & Learn before our summer recess of this program. ILS Past-Chair Al Linday of Hogan Lovells will be regaling us with his story, insights, and advice. If you haven’t made it to a Lunch & Learn yet, this is your chance! Al is a heavy-hitter litigator who focuses his practice on large-scale commercial disputes in court and arbitration. His cases include a multi-billion-dollar power plant construction project, a nationwide product-liability class action, an airliner crash in South America, and even a presidential election. He is Board Certified in both International Law and International Litigation & Arbitration and has an impressive list of accolades. You don’t want to miss out on hearing from Al in this round table setting! Please RSVP to Whitney Jobson (wjobson@floridabar.org).
Have a great week!
