“There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.”

Dear ILS Members,
When I addressed our Section members for the first time as the new Chair of the ILS at the Florida Bar Convention this summer, I highlighted three words that would define the success of our year: Commitment, Collaboration and Celebration!
We are nearly four months into our year, and I can say our Section’s Collaboration has been outstanding! As you will see from just this week’s Gazette, we have been and are continuing to collaborate with so many different organizations to help expand our Section’s reach and engagement to benefit our members. We recently co-hosted a successful Venture Capital Event with the Miami Finance Forum (MFF) with an incredible turnout and presentation at the Four Seasons in Miami. We also co-hosted an enjoyable reception with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) at Bay 13 in Coral Gables. Other upcoming collaborative events include the Cuban-American Bar Association (CABA) Cuba Conference on October 6. We’re also partnering with the Law Society of Hong Kong to promote their Peace and Prosperity summit on October 11, and with the Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS) to promote their Annual Latam Investor-State Arbitration Conference on November 12.
If you are planning to attend the International Bar Association (IBA) conference in Paris later this month, please let me know. I will be attending along with Gary Birnberg, Susanne Leone and other members of the ILS Leadership. We are co-hosting a few events, including a breakfast with the Paris Bar, and would love to have you join us to elevate our Section’s presence at this important international law conference.
In terms of Commitment, I wanted to bring to your attention that the International Litigation and Arbitration Board Certification application deadline is October 31. Florida Bar Board Certification is an important way to demonstrate your commitment to the Section, showcase your expertise in international law, and distinguish yourself as a practitioner from your peers. Please see the flyer below for more information and contact details. Let’s continue to increase the number of our Board Certified practitioners in our Section.
On the Celebration front, I’m pleased to announce that we will be hosting our annual ILS Orlando Luncheon on November 30 at the Citrus Club, so please Save the Date and make plans to attend!
Saludos,
