Dear ILS Members,

This year’s term may be winding down, but its primary underlying theme – collaboration – continues strong! Earlier this week, in furtherance of our Cooperation Agreements with the Milan and Bergamo Bar Associations, our Chair-Elect, Richard Montes de Oca, met with leaders from the respective bar organizations to develop future goals that will promote our mutual interests. We have worked hard to cultivate member participation, mentor new members and increase engagement with our foreign colleagues. As a result, we are well poised to continue developing new opportunities, which will strengthen our practices and enhance our profession. Together, we will continue to do great things!

Internship Opportunity Organized by the Paris Bar for Both English and French Speaking Lawyers!

Since 1991, the Paris Bar organizes a unique training program for young French speaking lawyers, in partnership with the Ecole de Formation professionnelle des Barreaux du ressort de la cour d'appel de Paris (EFB).  The "Stage International" brings together young French speaking lawyers from all over the world for a two-month theoretical and practical training.  Since 2015, the Paris Bar also organizes a second version of the program for English speaking lawyers called the "International Program".

Both programs are organized in cooperation with foreign bar associations and are supported by some French Embassies abroad. The Stage International will take place from October to November 2023 (8 weeks).  The International Program will take place in May and June 2023 (exact dates to be confirmed by the Paris Bar). 

The internship offers participants an introduction to the French legal system.  In the first month of the Stage International the foreign lawyers will participate in programs of the “Ecole de Formation du Barreau” to be able to understand the French legal system and its procedures.  Participants are able to discover the daily routine of the Palais de Justice by attending hearings, visiting the major French institutions and getting an insight of European law.  In the second month, the foreign lawyers will have the opportunity to experience Parisian legal life and will intern in a Parisian Law Firm.
