The International Law Section Gazette | | |
Dear colleagues and friends,
Please join us for another ILS Lunch & Learn on June 4 at the offices of Holland & Knight, 200 South Orange Avenue, Suite 2600, Orlando, Florida 32801. This program will be moderated by Brock McClane and will feature James Bacchus as our speaker. James brings a remarkable perspective to international practitioners: he is a former member of Congress, a former U.S. international trade negotiator, and a founding judge—and twice chairman—of the WTO Appellate Body. He now serves as Distinguished University Professor of Global Affairs at UCF. It should be a terrific conversation, and a rare opportunity to hear from someone whose career has shaped international trade and dispute resolution at the highest levels.
We are also seeking article submissions for the International Law Quarterly, with a particular interest in pieces focused on high net worth issues in international law. That said, other international law topics are also welcome and will be considered. If you are interested in contributing, please submit a short statement of interest to ILQ Editor Jennifer Mosquera at jmosquera@sequorlaw.com by June 26, 2026.
Next, please save the date for two important June events. The Chair’s Reception at ICE BAR will take place on June 18, and the ILS Annual Meeting will take place on June 19, at the same time as The Florida Bar Annual Convention but at a separate location approximately 20 minutes away. I hope many of you will plan to join us in Orlando for both events, and more details will be coming soon.
Finally, I want to repeat my call for interest in Section leadership positions for the coming year, including the vice-treasurer position. If you have been looking for a way to become more involved, this is a great opportunity to help shape the direction of the Section, work alongside a terrific group of colleagues, and contribute to our programming and initiatives. If you are interested, please reach out.
Un abrazo,
Cristina Vicens Beard
Florida Bar ILS Chair
