“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is
no path and leave a trail."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bonjour ILS Members!
This past week, I had the privilege and pleasure of leading our outstanding ILS Delegates to the International Bar Association (IBA) Conference in Paris, France. Our trip was an incredible success as we established new and strengthened existing relationships with lawyers, law firms and Bar Associations from around the world.
I’m also excited to announce that during the IBA Conference, our Section signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Bar Council of England and Wales. This is an important achievement as we established a formal framework for advancing our mutual interests in international law.
Our ILS Delegates were also hosted by the Paris Bar (Barreau de Paris) during the IBA Conference at an enjoyable Welcome Reception and a productive Business Meeting to discuss important initiatives under our Cooperation Agreement. We’re looking forward to our continued collaboration.
All of these initiatives are part of our Section’s goal to continue Elevating our International Leadership. While we enjoy celebrating these achievements, it’s important to recognize that they require the commitment and collaboration of our Section leaders.
As such, I want to extend a special thank you to our Europe Committee Co-Chair, Susanne Leone, our Arbitration and Mediation Committee Chair, Gary Birnberg, and all of our other ILS Delegates for their leadership and support!
I also want to invite our other Section members to help advance our Section Cooperation Agreements with the Paris Bar, the Bar Council of England and Wales, and other Foreign Bars. If you’re interested in doing so, please let me or our Chair Elect, Ana Barton, know so we can get you involved.
Merci,
