“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
-Melody Beattie
Dear ILS Members and Friends:
This past week I had the privilege of attending and participating on a panel at the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) Corporate Counsel Conference in Seattle, Washington. It was a great opportunity to connect and collaborate with friends and colleagues, many of whom are also members and supporters of the ILS and participated in iLaw 2024.
There was also an impressive representation of so many technology companies, including Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and T-Mobile, all of which demonstrated their commitment to Diversity & Inclusion and the advancement of Hispanic/Latino lawyers, especially Latinas. It was impressive to see the significant number of Latinas in leadership at the HNBA and at the law firms and in-house counsel roles represented at the conference. I look forward to expanding our Section’s collaboration with the HNBA in the years to come.
I’m excited to share that we have received positive feedback and interest from various law students who have responded to our Law Students Membership Challenge. Following our recent successful Association Fair at the University of Miami School of Law, we issued a call to action and announced that the ILS would pay for a one-year ILS membership for the first 50 law students who emailed me expressing their interest to become an ILS student member. This is a great opportunity for law students interested in international law to learn more about international law, network with other lawyers in our Section and volunteer with our committees. Please share our Law Student Membership Challenge with law students who you think may be interested in joining us!
We have some exciting events coming up, so please be sure to mark your calendars and attend. On Tuesday, March 26, we and our friends at Osborne Clarke are co-hosting an interesting presentation and networking event on EU Regulation in the Digital Space at Aficionado in Miami.

On May 17, the ILS Tax Committee is partnering with TTN to bring together a Joint Conference on the Intersection of Art and Tax at the Rubell Museum.
