September 2019
Our collective goals and intention from the inaugural 2019 Summit earlier this year are articulated in a  Vision Principles  document, available now
for your organization and individuals to sign in support.

Last week, we released our eagerly awaited updated IREC Model Interconnection Procedures. Initially developed in 2005 and updated in 2009 and 2013, the 2019 edition reflects the latest evolution in best practices to facilitate higher penetrations of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the grid, integrating new technologies while maintaining grid safety and reliability. The model procedures help state utility regulators, energy industry professionals, utilities, policymakers and other energy DER stakeholders as they develop and/or refine the rules of the road for grid access, known as interconnection. Included are important refinements that come from the use of these procedures across the country. We also take the first steps toward defining a clear interconnection process for energy storage systems More
Hard working employees of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) across the nation have asked for relevant training to help them perform their jobs more effectively, and now it's on the way! IREC recently previewed the first of a series of online learning modules at the national Community Action Partnership annual convention in Chicago. IREC Director of Credentialing Anna Sullivan, presented at the conference alongside Erica Burrin, managing team lead for weatherization at the US Department of Energy, together detailing the work IREC is leading for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and DOE to support WAP administrative staff. Nevada is one of a handful of states to adopt legislation directing its public service commission and regulated investor-owned utility to initiate a comprehensive distribution resource planning (DRP) reform effort. Over the past two years, IREC, working alongside NV Energy (NVE), Western Resource Advocates (WRA), Vote Solar, the Bureau of Consumer Protection and other clean energy industry stakeholders, has engaged in the  regulatory proceeding  to implement SB 146 to establish a framework for NVE’s DRP.
