Greetings Ministry Partners,
In the past, we did not pay much attention to where or when graduation ceremonies were held, as long as the timing and location were most convenient for the teachers and students. However, we now recognize that holding the graduation ceremony right in the church during the Sunday morning worship service has a profoundly positive impact on the congregation, ministry workers, and even the families of the graduates. On April 6th, for the first time, we held the graduation ceremony in the church. Although it was difficult for some teachers to attend due to their responsibilities in their own churches, combining the graduation with Sunday worship and having many teachers present brought great benefits to both the graduates and the local believers.
First, this practice affirms that these workers have been thoroughly trained to lead and guide others. It fosters recognition from the faith community and a sense of collective support, motivating them to live and teach God’s Word faithfully (1 Timothy 4:16). When believers see that their leaders have been equipped with serious training, they feel more confident in following their guidance and collaborating more effectively in ministry programs.
Second, it demonstrates their faithfulness in learning. This encourages those who may have dropped out of training or inspires them to pursue further study with greater zeal.
Third, the graduates become role models of lifelong learning for their families and children. This fosters understanding and partnership in ministry, leading to spiritual support and prayer for their calling. Their children and relatives are inspired to live out their faith earnestly and may even pursue spiritual callings in the future.
Fourth, it reaffirms their calling and commitment to serve. It serves as a reminder that their studies are not merely for knowledge but to prepare for the ministry to which God has called them (2 Timothy 2:15). It strengthens their sense of responsibility and dedication.
Additionally, it carries significant pastoral meaning. The graduation ceremony is like a commissioning, entrusting them with ministry and shepherding responsibilities. When we invited them to kneel and called the church to intercede for them, it created a deeply solemn atmosphere. Some graduates expressed gratitude to their families, spouses, children, and fellow believers who had prayed for and supported their studies, resulting in deeply moving moments unlike any before.
