Stronger Together: Community Support Surrounding Blair Elementary
At Blair Elementary, the holiday season became a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a school and its community come together to support students and families.
This year, a request to Toys for Tots resulted in an extraordinary response, with nearly 700 toys delivered for Blair students. Local churches added to that generosity by donating additional toys and providing wrapping paper, allowing parents to prepare gifts at home. Working alongside the school counselor, Jacqueline Rodriguez, and the PTA, this collective effort helped ensure that students experienced the joy and excitement of the season.
Support extended well beyond toys. An area church donated winter coats to help students stay warm as temperatures dropped, and Blair Elementary’s Angel Tree saw an incredible outcome—every student was adopted, ensuring no child was left out during the holidays.
Care for families was also front and center. “Love Packs” were distributed to students identified for support, and the school security team provided hams and turkeys for 30 families to help make holiday meals possible. To ensure those meals felt complete, the school office hosted holiday fundraisers—including Thanksgiving feather sales and candy grams—to purchase side dishes and round out each family’s table.
Together, these efforts reflected the heart of Blair Elementary: a school surrounded by a community that showed up with compassion, creativity, and care. Because of this collective support, students and families headed into the holidays feeling seen, supported, and hopeful.
