Store Hours

We will be open the third Saturday of the month, February 18th, from
10:00am - 4:00pm.
The Indian Craft Shop is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m., and the third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Shop is closed on federal holidays.

Visiting Us
|
|
A photo ID is needed for entrance to the building. During weekdays, visitors may use either the
C Street or E Street entrances (E Street is closer for Metro riders). Handicap access ramps are available at both entrances. During Saturday hours, visitors must use the C Street entrance.
|
|
Public Transportation
Farragut West (Blue, Orange, and Silver Line) and Farragut North (Red Line) are the closest metro stops. It is a six-block walk, or you can ride an 80 or S1 bus to 19th and C streets. There is metered parking on the street and several parking lots within a few blocks.

While the winter season is halfway over and the daylight is extending longer, it seems most of us are still bundled up inside, staying warm and cozy with indoor activities.

The Shop's Big Winter Annual Sale is our way of saying THANK YOU for your appreciation and loyalty in supporting American Indian arts and the Shop.
Just about everything
in the Shop will be included in this WINTER SALE! Jewelry, pottery, dolls, basketry, fetishes, rugs, beadwork, works from Alaska, sculptures and more will be discounted 10%, 15%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% (certain items, e.g., bronzes and some consignments are excluded). Items will be clearly marked in the Shop and the online store
so look for the colored dots and our coded signs in the Shop for discount amounts.
Please Note: We are not able to hold sale-priced items, but layaways can be arranged! Layaways can be handled in the Shop or over the phone. All discounted items are final sales.

If you would like to order online and pick up in the Shop, please fill in your 'Ship To' address as the Shop's street address - 1849 C Street, NW, Washington, DC 20240. This way, the appropriate DC sales tax will be charged and we can then credit your shipping cost back to your method of payment after the online sale goes through. In the "Comment section" of your order, let us know that you will be picking up the order and we'll have it ready for you!

News from the Interior Museum and Library

The Interior Museum is currently preparing to open
Naturally Connected: Charley Harper and the Department of the Interior. This exhibit highlights the interconnectivity between the work of the Department of the Interior's bureaus as reflected by the bold, highly-stylized designs of Charley Harper.
Opening February 13, 2017.
Please Note: the Interior Museum will be closed
January 14, 2017 to February 12, 2017

Murals Tours
Discover the art and architecture that made the Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior Building a "symbol of a new day" during the Great Depression.
Tours are offered at
2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.

Department of the Interior Library
The Department of the Interior Library presents a number of free public programs including Park Ranger Speaker Series and DOI Library Training Sessions. The Park Ranger Speaker Series highlights the background and history of sites of interest in the Washington, DC region, as well as subjects highlighting the history of the United States. The Training Sessions introduce DOI employees and others to the Library's services and to the information sources it makes available either through Interior staff computers or an in-person visit to the Library.
