Welcome to the summer edition of The Innovation Edge. We bring you exciting updates from CEWIT about the rapidly evolving world of technological and social innovations with AI, machine learning, robotics, AR/VR, and many more. As science and technology continue to reshape our lives, CEWIT remains at the forefront of innovation and in driving transformative changes in various industry areas.
A few updates:
Supporting a Greener Future: The announcement that Stony Brook University was selected as the anchor institution for the New York Climate Exchange not only creates huge possibilities for the university, but for CEWIT as well. A first-of-its-kind international center for developing and deploying solutions to our global climate crisis, the Exchange will build and lead an interdisciplinary ecosystem to advance climate research, education and commercialization.
Empowering Communities through Tech Innovation: CEWIT is the lead in a project to develop the Clean Energy Equity Index (CEEI). In collaboration with SBU’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS), IBM, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the CEEI project team will develop a cloud-based geospatial analytics software to support communities across the United States and around the globe in their transition from fossil fuel energy production to clean energy.
Unlocking the Power of Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI is making remarkable strides, revolutionizing the way we interact with machines and the world around us. From autonomous vehicles to voice assistants, AI has become an integral part of our daily lives. CEWIT will host an upcoming virtual panel titled: “AI for Business Optimization” on June 15, 2023. Participants will hear how to increase operational efficiency, gain analytics-based insights, and improve real-time customer experience. In July, we will co-sponsor a robotics summer camp organized by Sunrise Technology, a CEWIT incubator company focusing on developing AI and deep learning solutions for autonomous systems.
Farewell and Best Wishes: And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Dr. Satya Sharma’s retirement in December 2022. Dr. Sharma has been CEWIT’s Executive Director since its inception, and throughout his tenure, was the visionary and leader behind who CEWIT is now. We wish Dr. Sharma happiness and success in his new adventures.
The projects, events, and activities taking place at CEWIT focus on developing collaboration, fostering entrepreneurship, and cultivating the next-generation workforce. We encourage you to partner with us. The possibilities are limitless and the future shines bright. Together, we will go far beyond!
Regards,
