Zachary’s mom Rachel is one of the great TPGF supporters (Rachel’s Dad is also an important member of the TPGF Support Group!) Last year at TPGF Golf 2012 Rachel bought a Silent Auction item that included tickets to a Caps game and a ride on the Zamboni during intermission !!

You can see that he had a blast! Thank you Rachel and Zachary! 

As we settle into 2025, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for The Perfect Game Foundation. The mentorship and support I’ve received have been invaluable in shaping my career path, and I’m excited to stay connected as I continue to grow professionally.

Right now, I’m soaking up my last semester at Elon University—hard to believe how quickly time has flown by! Not much has changed, but I’m making the most of these final months before graduation.

Looking ahead, I can’t wait for TPGF Golf 2025! It’s always an incredible event, and I hope everyone is getting excited for what’s to come. A huge thank you to Del and the entire Foundation for being such a meaningful part of my journey. Wishing you all a fantastic start to the year!

Happy February! I am in my spring semester at Ole Miss and I can hardly believe it. I am still in the process of applying to internships within the sports industry for summer to gain experience and create more relationships all around the country. Most of my time recently is being spent on interviews and job applications which has been such a great learning experience. Grateful for all the help and connections Del has provided me with for potential opportunities.

So far this Spring at the football facility we have had a Junior Day which was a great success and now we are just getting geared up for spring practices which start up late March. I am so blessed to have the job that I do in Recruiting and to be able to be mentored by so many amazing women.

Excited that TPGF Golf 2025 Planning has begun and hope to see you at TPC Potomac on July 14 for TPGF Golf Tournament # 13! Sending everyone good wishes for the opportunities that lie ahead this year!

Hello! Very excited to join the Foundation and the Fellows who have preceded me! I’m already meeting wonderful people who want to help and that is very special to me. The second semester of my sophomore year at FSU is flying by! 

I’m currently on the lookout for sports operations and analytics opportunities for this summer to gain experience and make new connections. Between classes, water polo, and clubs, spring is shaping up to be a busy one. I’m also excited to be involved with the co-ed business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and keep learning along the way. Wishing everyone a great start to 2025—can’t wait to see what’s ahead! 

Kyra Grodman - Lehigh '23

Hi everyone! My name is Kyra Grodman, as a New York City native, I have always loved the pulse that sports have had on this city. Growing up, I would go to Yankees games with my family, and attend field trips to Mets games with school. I went to Lehigh University where I double majored in Finance and Business Information Systems. While I was there, I worked with the coaches of the Lehigh University Baseball Team. 

After college I held a seasonal associate role with the New York Mets on their Minor League Operations team. Getting to be a part of the 2024 season was not only exciting but eye opening to be able to see how a sports team is run. During my associate role I helped with daily administrative tasks, as well as various projects involving data collection and even helped plan the end of year Player Development Awards. I am currently looking for my next role in the baseball and sports industry. I am thankful to have been introduced to Del Wilber and the Foundation through Avery Weissman. I am looking forward to not only meeting new people in the sports world but seeing how I can get involved!

Hello. My name is Ben Hoffman, and I am an eighteen-year-old senior at Yorktown High School. In the last byline, I discussed the NFL playoffs and what to expect. Unfortunately, the Super Bowl is just coming up, and we didn't get to see the Washington Commanders extend their Cinderella story to the Super Bowl. In this Byline, I will discuss the NBA trade deadline.

When looking back at this recent trade deadline, all you can think about is the Luka Doncic trade and how brutal you and other people thought about it. Although this trade was maybe the biggest of them all, we have to look at what other teams did during the deadline and if that showed improvement. For example, the Washington Wizards. Although the Wizards will still suck after the deadline, their future seems more bright. The Wizards traded multiple players like Kyle Kuzma and Jonas Valanciunas for Khris Middleton and a good amount of draft picks. This is beneficial for the Wizards as they are already projected to get the first overall draft pick, and if they get more first-round draft picks they can become better in the future. 

Not only were the Wizards good at the trade deadline, but also the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers. Both teams were able to lose their star players but also managed to upgrade their team with more star players. Sacramento was able to get stars Zach Lavine and Jonas Valanciunas, while the Lakers were able to get Luka Doncic and Mark Williams. These players will help carry their teams to the playoffs and possibly more. The Lakers have an all-star duo of Luka and Lebron which nobody ever expected. Even though they lost their star defensive player, they were able to get a new big man who has been consistent for his past team.

This trade deadline was filled with surprises, as many teams upgraded their lineups. Although I didn’t go over every trade, these trades were my favorites, as they show how unexpected a trade deadline can be and how no player is untouchable and can be easily traded. What team do you think had the best trade deadline and who do you think will play best for their new team?

The Rise of The Commanders

Last season the Commanders went 4-13 under the management of Dan Snyder. Fans started protesting for Dan Snyder to sell the team and after a lot of push back and disagreement he did. This led to the purchasing of the Team by John Harris and a few other parties including Basketball star Magic Johnson. One of the first moves for the Commanders was to hire Head Coach Dan Quinn which would certainly pay off. When the draft came around spirits were high in Washington, with the second pick and lots of talent in the class the future certainly looked bright. The Commanders picked Jayden Danies, Heisman, LSU Quarterback, this pick would turn out to be one of the greatest Rookie sensations football has ever seen.



The season would start off with a disappointing loss to the Buccaneers but then the Commanders got hot winning four in a row. In week eight the Commanders pulled off an exciting comeback against Caleb Williams and the Bears which ended with one of the best hail marys the NFL has seen. Towards the end of the season the Commanders capped it off with five consecutive wins securing themselves in the playoffs as the six seed. This meant that they would be going back to Tampa Bay where they started their season. In an exciting game the Commanders ended up getting their revenge 23-20. This win took the team to Detroit where they would have to face the Lions who obtained the first seed and were coming off a bye week. Despite all of this Jayden Daniels and the Commanders upset the Lions in commanding fashion 45-31. Spirits were high in Washington which took them to Philadelphia to face the Eagles, a long time rival. The Eagles ended up winning by great margin 55-23, despite this, The Commanders had a season no one expected going 4-13 to 10-6 is unheard of, especially under a Rookie Quarterback. Because of this great season Dan Quinn obtained Coach of the Year and Jayden Daniels won Rookie of the Year. 

Hi, I’m Julia Boller, a Senior at Yorktown HS and this is another ‘Julia’s Captures’ with sports and lifestyle photos. Sorry for the low amount of sports photos. With basketball season happening now, I will work to get more! Hope you enjoy them !  

This is one of my favorite pictures I have taken. It is similar to one in the previous newsletter, but is more focused on the other activity going on during the sunset. I love the colors in this picture, which I increased through vibrance in Photoshop. I took this in Naples, Florida. I also increased the contrast to highlight the business despite the peaceful sunset.

This newsletter I wanted to focus on specifically on the sun, and the many different views it may have. This picture was minutes before the sunset, and highlights the definition in the many waves. I like the boat in the background of this picture, and think it adds depth to the overall image. Despite the vibrant sun, the color of the waves shone through. I took this picture in Naples, Florida on my Nikon Z50.

I really like this picture because it shows the power and brightness of the sun, able to shine through despite the blockage of the trees. I like how it looks like the sun is escaping the blockage of the trees. In Photoshop, I increased the contrast to bring out the difference in color between the sun and the trees, and the fact that the sun makes the trees look very darkly colored. I took this picture on my Nikon Z50 in Florida.
