Carleigh's Corner

Happy September everyone! On September 8th, I worked my first home game with the Baltimore Ravens!! The energy from all of the fans was so contagious, which created the utmost excitement for the rest of the season. On game days, I assist with customer service to ensure that our PSL owners and fans are all set for game day. Additionally, I seek out potential clients for season tickets and hospitality tents to create revenue generation. I am so grateful for this experience and am looking forward to more fun as the season progresses!

Lindsey's Semester Abroad

After finishing my summer interning at the Orioles, I began my junior year studying abroad in Florence, Italy for the fall semester! I moved to Florence at the end of August and will be here until mid December. I will be completing courses to fulfill graduation credits such as Italian Literature and Language. I look forward to experiencing new cultures and traveling throughout Europe. This month, I will be traveling to Munich, Lisbon, Madrid, and Amsterdam! I hope to push myself outside of my comfort zone and fully immerse myself in the Italian culture. I will return to Elon University in January where I will finish out my junior year before returning to the Orioles in Summer of 2024!

Ben's Byline

Hello, my name is Ben Hoffman, and I am a sixteen-year-old junior who goes to Yorktown High School. Last month I talked about the new rookie star Elly De La Cruz and how he may become the future of the Cincinnati Reds. Today I am going to talk about the National League MVP race and how close and exciting it is.
When most people think about who will win the American League MVP, most people think about Shohei Ohtani, but when you think about who will win the National League MVP there is more than just one player. Players who are in this NL MVP are players like Ronald Acuna Jr., Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. Right now many people think that Ronald Acuna will win but looking at at other stats than just home runs and batting averages will show you how close he might not win this race.
Currently, Ronald Acuna Jr. is leading these two players in stats like runs, stolen bases, and hits. Mookie is leading these two players in stats like home runs, on-base play slugging, slugging percentage, and rbi’s. Freddie Freeman though is leading these two players in stats like batting average, on-base percentage, and doubles. Looking at these stats Mookies Betts is leading these players in stats which could show that he should be leading in the MVP race, but Ronald Acuna did make history that no one in MLB history has done which was hitting 30 home runs while also stealing 60 bases in a single season.
These three players are clearly the three players you should be thinking of when thinking about the NL MVP race, but who should be in first? In my opinion, I think that Mookie Betts should win the MVP just because of the stats he is leading in front of these players, but you should remember that Ronald Acuna has never won an MVP award out of these players. In your opinion who do you think should win the MVP and also who do you think will win the World Series and the world series MVP?
