Fair Lawn Jewish Center
Congregation Bnai Israel

Enriching Lives through Prayer, Celebration, Education and Social Action for over 70 Years!
Today marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2022, and the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp.
Six million Jews were murdered in the Shoah, (Hebrew for Holocaust) including approximately one million in Auschwitz-Birkenau. By the time the camp was liberated, 70,000 Poles, 25,000 Sinti and Roma, and some 15,000 prisoners of war from the USSR and other countries had been murdered there. So why do we go back to this place of horror? We go back to remember, to commemorate, to educate. We go back to mark our eternal existence in the very place the Nazis and their collaborators tried to exterminate us. We stand proudly in defiance. We are living proof of the Jewish people’s survival and unrelenting hope for the future.
Never Forget. Zachor!
