Parshat Shavuot II

Mark Harrison Tratner was born on January 9, 2010, and will become a Bar Mitzvah on May 27, 2023. He is passionate about sports, music and video games. Mark is a diehard Mets and Jets fan, attending the occasional game while catching most of them on TV.


Mark is currently a first baseman in baseball and a power forward in travel basketball. He plays travel in both sports. Mark also played five years of travel soccer as a goalkeeper.


Mark enjoys playing music as well. He plays the trombone and drum set in school and quad drum in the Fair Lawn Indoor Percussion Junior Varsity Program for the last two years.


Mark’s Mitzvah Project is raising awareness and funds for Multiple Sclerosis. He will participate in his second Bike MS New York City in October. Bike MS NYC is a 30-mile bike ride around New York City, which Mark first completed in October, 2022. Mark rides for Team Dragon Behind in honor of his mom’s best friend/aunt, Jacquelyn Roschbach.


Mark loves his family and dogs.

Wednesday, May 31 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM - History of Jews in New York City, Part II: Ellis Island and the Gateway to America. This is the second of four talks by Thorin Tritter about the history of Jews in NYC. This talk will focus on the immigration experience on Ellis Island for the largest wave of Jewish immigrants, in the period from 1890-1920. Flyer available here.

Rabbi Amy Levin, President of the Rabbinical Assembly of Israel, will speak after a dinner on Friday and after the service on Saturday about recent events in Israel and the impact on the Masorti (Conservative) Movement. $36/person for in-person attendance. This is the sixth and final multi-media learning sessions developed by the Hartman Institute and facilitated by Rabbi Salston that will include video presentation from faculty at the Shalom Hartman Institute along with leadings rabbis, public figures, and intellectuals. For rental/in-house events: please fill out a Room Reservation Form at least two weeks before the scheduled date and email it to info@fljc.com(In order to manage scheduling and arrange spaces, it is important that the office and custodial staff have a schedule of upcoming events with room requirements.)
