Avoid Being Too AI Obvious
Ann Dosen
By now you've had a chance to use ChatGPT (or a different AI model) to write something for you. Maybe it's a blog article, or an email, or a social media post. You may even be able to recognize social media posts that were generated by AI - they have a distinctive look unless you give it specific instructions.
There are many custom GPTs out there that can help you determine what your "voice" is by analyzing your writing and perhaps in the future I'll share my tips for that.
Right now I want to share an easy way to help your content be more authentic. You need to tell your AI model (GPT) not to use words that are overly used in AI content.
I'm going to share my secret paragraph that I include in any prompt I use to tell ChatGPT not to use certain words.
I give ChatGPT my prompt (tell it what I need help writing), then I give it instructions on the "voice" I want it to use ("Write with the following style, voice, and tone: [insert your brand voice]"), then I tell it not to use these bad words:
"Avoid overused AI jargon words such as: transform, profound, evoke, elevate, discover, explore, boost, craft, delve, unlock, enlightening, insights, transformative, leverage, game-changing, aim, unprecedented, synergy, innovative, literally, unique, amazing, iconic, disruptive, empower, utilize, phenomenal, state-of-the-art, extraordinary, paradigm shifting, indispensable, quintessential, groundbreaking, flourish, unleash, enthusiast, deep dive, skyrocket, shedding, dive in, blueprint, mastery, master, keen, Accordingly, Additionally, Arguably, Certainly, Consequently, Hence, However, Indeed, Moreover, Nevertheless, Nonetheless, Notwithstanding, Thus, Undoubtedly, Adept, Commendable, Dynamic, Efficient, Ever-evolving, Exciting, Exemplary, Invaluable, Robust, Seamless, Synergistic, Thought-provoking, Utmost, Vibrant, Vital, Efficiency, Innovation, Institution, Integration, Implementation, Landscape, Optimization, Realm, Tapestry, Transformation, Aligns, Augment, Embark, Facilitate, Maximize, Underscores"
BONUS - be sure to remove excessive emojis and bullet points. ChatGPT loves emojis and bullet points and they are a dead giveaway.

Offer your patients a drug-free, non-invasive solution to the season’s most challenging obstacle: onychomycosis.

Become a Scurvy Elephant
Why Podiatrists Need to Embrace Their Inner Disturbing Element
Ann Dosen
My friend Dr. Richard Cowin recently shared the most delightfully misheard childhood story from Wayne Dyer—and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
Little Wayne comes home from school and says, “My teacher called me a scurvy elephant.” Confused, his foster mom calls the school, and the principal sets the record straight: she actually said “disturbing element.” But honestly? Wayne’s version is better.
That beautiful misunderstanding became a philosophy—for every rule-breaker who was never built to color inside the lines. And frankly? Thank God for that. Because what medicine needs is more scurvy elephants.
What’s a Scurvy Elephant? It’s the clinic owner building a thriving cash-pay model. The DPM pushing back when told to “stay in their lane.” The doc mastering minimally invasive surgery despite the side-eye. The podiatrist refusing to accept “JV team of medicine” status.
Scurvy elephants aren’t here to play nice. They’re here to disrupt.
What Can You Disturb Today?
Check where you’re leading with fear—undercharging, overbooking, saying “yes” when you mean “hell no.”
Normalize wanting both impact and income. Patient outcomes and time with your family. You’re allowed to want more.
Rewrite your systems. Rethink your values. And speak the damn truth—on stage, online, and behind closed doors.
If you’ve ever felt out of place in medicine… If you’ve ever wanted to lead louder, charge more, or burn down a system that tells you to settle… You’re not the problem. You’re the pattern interrupt.
You’re a scurvy elephant.
Now go stir something up. And if you want backup? PodiatryMeetings.com is right behind you. Trunk up, confidence high, ready to disrupt.

Want to be remembered? Stop playing it safe.
Ann Dosen
I heard a podcast episode on the Russell Brunson show recently where he was interviewing Dan Kennedy and the rebel in me was inspired. Most businesses aren’t failing because they lack a marketing plan—they’re failing because they lack personality. While everyone’s busy playing nice and chasing likes, the real winners are the ones who aren’t afraid to ruffle feathers.
Be Famous by Becoming Infamous. Dan Kennedy (marketing guru) built his empire by embracing controversy. His mantra? Polarization = profit. When you take a bold stand, you naturally attract attention. Look at those who built massive followings by daring to be different—whether you love them or hate them, they’re impossible to ignore.
My Origin Story: Pissing People Off to Raise the Bar
I didn’t start PodiatryMeetings.com to fit in. I started it to shake things up by challenging the status quo. I called out the industry by publishing honest reviews of podiatry conferences—something no one else dared to do. Yes, I pissed a lot of people off. The backlash was fierce—organizers were upset, and emails flooded in. But that controversy paid off. Why? Because it broke the mold. It made people pay attention. And it forced some much-needed improvements across the board.
Opposition Drives Traffic. When you spark debate, you’re not losing; you’re winning. Every negative comment, every angry email, fuels curiosity. People start asking, “Who is this person stirring the pot?” That curiosity translates into clicks, shares, and an audience that’s hard to ignore. In Dan Kennedy’s words, "All press is good press if you know how to frame it." Even bad press puts you on the map.
Don’t Be Liked. Be Known. If your message is so sanitized it could lull your audience to sleep, you’re missing the mark. Forget being universally liked; aim to be unmistakably remembered. Speak up, challenge convention, and don’t be afraid to take a hit for the sake of progress.
Final Thought - Legends like Dan Kennedy didn’t win by playing safe, and neither will you. You can't be magnetic without repelling someone. Being remembered isn’t about pleasing everyone—it’s about igniting conversations, driving change, and ensuring your message resonates with those who matter.
Remember: You don’t need everyone to like you; you just need the right people to remember you.
