U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik on Wednesday announced that she and Rep. Mimi Waters have put together a bipartisan group of second-term House members that are urging House Speaker Paul Ryan to expedite consideration of legislation to permanently repeal the federal excise tax on medical devices. EDC met with Rep. Nielsen Completes Acquisition of Gracenote - Queensbury

EDC congratulates Nielsen, the new owner of Gracenote and looks forward to working with the new ownership group.

As of Feb. 1, 2017, Nielsen announced it has completed its acquisition of Gracenote, the industry's leading media and entertainment metadata provider. The acquisition of Gracenote's global database and technology solutions-which span across platforms including multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs), smart televisions, streaming music services, connected devices, media players and in-car infotainment systems-significantly expands Nielsen's footprint with major clients.
With this acquisition, Nielsen gains access to the Gracenote data and technology that underpins the programming guides and personalized user experience around the consumption of video, music, and sports content. Gracenote provides reference information for over 12 million movie and television listings and 200 million music tracks, driving the interfaces of the major streaming digital media services, as well as the infotainment systems in over 75 million automobiles.

Two great articles in  Saratoga Living Magazine regarding
North Creek:

Ski Bowl Village at Gore: Luxury Camp Living with Ski-In Ski-Out Perks

T here's one thing we have this year that was sorely lacking the same time last year-and that's snow. With snow on the ground now, and more snow likely on the horizon, ski season is in full swing. Which means things are looking good for Gore Mountain, especially with Alpine trail improvements and cross country trail expansion.

But there's one other thing the mountain has going for it-and that's Ski Bowl Village, a ski-in, ski-out community currently in the works in North Creek by FrontStreet Mountain Development. It's the only  one of its kind at Gore, and over the course of 10 phases, 154 residences-including 18 single-family homes-will be built on the 430-plus acre property.
These aren't just any homes, either-they're luxury townhomes, carefully "carved" into the woods to give you the feeling that they've been there for the past 60, even 80 years. Not only that, they're far from cookie-cutter.

Ski Bowl Boom: New and Improved Ski and Snowshoe Trails in North Creek

Ski Bowl Boom: New and Improved Ski and Snowshoe Trails in North Creek

A variation on the "More Gore" marketing theme at Gore Mountain Ski Center fits nicely at the North Creek Ski Bowl: "More Nordic." The historic site, operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority in partnership with the Town of Johnsburg, now offers cross-country ski facilities, a direct result of the non-winter weather of 2015-16.

Once famous as a pioneer in winter sports in New York's Adirondack Mountains, the Ski Bowl languished but has come back to life in the past 15 years and is flourishing again at the base of Little Gore Mountain. It is connected to ORDA's seemingly ever-growing Gore Mountain center and offers a full menu of activities-Alpine and Nordic skiing, a terrain park with a half pipe, ski/boarder cross and snowshoeing under the lights on its grounds. The new Nordic and snowshoe network open to the public was developed over the summer following a successful experience of hosting cross-country races last winter.

The overall turnaround at the Ski Bowl is the result of several factors, including efforts by FrontStreet Mountain Development LLC to bring its ambitious Ski Bowl Village at Gore Mountain project to reality. David Crikelair, who has been skiing at Gore Mountain since the 1960s, is the managing partner. His son, Mac, is the project manager.

Visual Arts Gallery Presents

A Thousand Words
Works by Len Davis
February 16 Through April 6, 2017

Artist Len Davis explores the interplay between the figurative and literal term through 100 8-by-5-inch collages incorporated with drawings of people's faces executed on text-filled newsprint pages.  When looking at a person's facial expression, you can tell how they're feeling at that particular moment.  Whereas, text, words, verbiage and recognizable text and identify marks explain it for you.  Either way, we're provided a mental picture from both, which illustrate the fact that "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words."
