2018 Thurman Maple Days

Mike Hill of Valley Road Maple Farm

Having a 'sweet' time is easy during Maple Days in  Thurman, NY.
For three consecutive weekends in March, Thurman celebrates all things maple and you won't want to miss it!

Four maple farms participate in Thurman Maple Days:
  • Adirondack Gold Maple Farm, 74 Bear Pond Road, Athol, NY
  • Valley Road Maple Farm, 190 Valley Road, Thurman, NY
  • Hidden Hollow Maple Farm, 312 Dippikill Road, Warrensburg, NY
  • Toad Hill Maple Farm, 151 Charles Olds Road, Athol, NY
Watch sap being gathered and boiled and see how a Certified Tree Farm makes maximum use of the wood from all types of trees. Learn what's involved in this industry, have some old fashioned family fun, and take home some of the best maple syrup in the country.

Making maple syrup is a unique and time-intensive process, but the end result is well worth waiting for!

Come hungry! There will be syrup samplings, pancake breakfasts and more. After you've had your fill of maple sugar you can get a llama kiss, enjoy games and activities for kids, shop for delectable goodies, dance to live music, and more.

Visit the website to learn more.

Congratulations to Bud Taylor on his retirement!

Bud Taylor begins "real retirement"
Harold "Bud" Taylor, the gentleman statesman of Warren County, is stepping down from the EDC Warren County Board having completed his term on EDC to begin "real retirement."
Taylor, 78, also recently stepped down as chairman of the Warren-Washington Counties Industrial Development Agency board and president of the Crandall Park Beautification Committee, wrapping up four decades of local government and community leadership.
"It was fun working with all the movers and shakers in Glens Falls," Taylor said at his final EDC Warren County board meeting on Feb. 27.
Taylor has long had a reputation for tact and wit, even in the midst of controversy.

Lakes to Locks Passage photo contest

Help us celebrate 15 successful years of helping communities and fostering local economies. We provide a wide variety of services to municipalities, museums, and nonprofits all along the scenic byway-from Albany to the Quebec border. To help spread the word and highlight the beauty of our byway, we want residents and visitors to share their favorite spot on the Lakes to Locks Passage scenic byway-whether they're paddling Lake Champlain, hiking a trail, exploring an historic building or quaint village, crossing a lock on the Champlain Canal, or learning about the history hidden in these stunning landscapes.

In order to make this first (and what we hope will be an annual) event possible, we are appealing to local businesses to donate prizes that will be given to the winners of the photo contest.
