US 23 Corridor Roundtable Event
The state legislature and Governor DeWine approved $10 million in the state transportation budget earlier this year for a statewide strategic transportation analysis. The plan emphasized the connection between Toledo/Sandusky and Columbus, and the Ohio Department of Transportation is obligated to finish the study by December 2024, so that the suggestions can be evaluated in the next biennial transportation budget.
Given Sandusky County's geography and diverse industry sectors, the results of these upcoming decisions will have a significant impact.
Please join the SCEDC and the Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County to have a roundtable discussion about the next steps and provide feedback from our industry leaders. Your participation is important and appreciated. Brian Dicken, Vice President of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce will be leading the roundtable discussion.

Sandusky County BAC Meeting Highlights OMJ & Teacher Bootcamp
At our last BAC meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from two speakers:
- Sam Weigman, a teacher at Gibsonburg Schools, presented to the Sandusky County Business Advisory Committee about the benefits of the Sandusky County Teacher Bootcamp. Mr. Weigman took what he learned from touring Green Bay Packaging, Luckey Farmers, Mosser Construction, Motion Controls, The Bellevue Hospital, and Whirlpool and implemented it into his classroom curriculum. In Sam’s words, “In 27 years of teaching, this was my best professional development experience. We had elementary, middle school, and high school teachers in my group who all agreed this was an amazing experience. It was like seeing the TV show, "How It's Made", live and in person. You will walk away understanding how Sandusky County plays a role in the global economy. You will walk away with tools to help your students compete for employment in the global economy.”
- Trisha Foos, Ohio Means Jobs Sandusky County, presented their new technology for workforce education - Virtual Reality! OMJ has recently acquired this equipment to provide individuals with the chance to experience a career hands-on and determine if it's the right fit for them.
