Alarm Monitoring to ADT
Introduction: For some time the Board has been working with management on the alarm monitoring issues at Jonathan’s.
- Ability to monitor two different ways to ensure the alarm signal is responded to;
- Ability to take advantage of the new technology to allow you to have more options with your individual alarm systems: other features and devices;
- The old contract was held by a sole practitioner who could move, lose his license or close the business with no alternative in place;
Therefore, our goal was to seek a company who would self-monitor and not sub out to an outside firm.
The Board reviewed several options and went out to bid with three bidders on the project. From these bids it was decided ADT offered the best package to provide this service.
Questions You May Still Have Regarding the Conversion:
When the alarm goes off, who will receive the alarm?
: Under dual monitoring, both the gate house and ADT (at their national call center) will receive the alarm. Security will go to the home and will confirm if the alarm is a false alarm or is real. The two groups must call off the alarm, or the Sheriff’s office is notified.
Who will call us if the alarm goes off?
: ADT will make the call to the owners if the alarm goes off.
What will the installation technician be doing when they enter the home?
Answer: A communicator needs to be installed in the alarm system. They will then test the alarm to make sure the signal is working
Will pass codes that are already in place need to be
Your pass codes will stay the same unless you want to change them. The technicians use an installer code to set the monitoring.
At the initial meeting it was said that we will be able to access our alarm panel on our cell phones. How will this happen?
The ability to access the panel with your cell phone is done by the use of an app. that you download. This is obtainable as an "Extra" to the basic monitoring contract. (Extra means additional cost billed directly to you.) When ADT notifies you of your appointment for the conversion, let them know that you are interested in this function and they will set it up for you as part of your appointment.
It appears that the panels located near the front door will be connected to ADT. What about the separate units that some residents have in their bedrooms?
All key pads in the home will be connected to the panel box. The technician should check this as part of the appointment.
How will we know when we need to schedule our alarm conversion?
ADT will be calling you to schedule your appointment. If they leave a message, please make sure you call them back.
ADT will call you 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to let you know they will be on their way.
I am having my house sitter set up the appointment with ADT as I am not here. How will that work?
When ADT calls you, let them know you are having a house sitter be at the appointment. ADT will then notify your house sitter 30 minutes before the appointment. This will narrow the time the house sitter will need to be available for the appointment.
