Happy New Year

Wreaths Across America

We were honored to once again participate in the Wreath Across America Ceremony on December 17, 2022 at the Concord Township Cemetery. We were grateful that so many of you honored our local heroes either by sponsoring a wreath(s), volunteering or both. Each Veteran’s name was said aloud and a wreath was placed at their headstone, thanks to your generosity.

On behalf of all of Concord Township, we thank you for your support. The planning for next year’s ceremony has already begun with a wreath matching campaign. Now through January 17, 2023, when you sponsor a wreath through our sponsorship group, Wreath Across America’s Head Quarters will match the wreaths sponsored!

To sponsor a wreath(s) go to Concord Township's Wreaths Across America Page.

SERVICE DEPARTMENT

The Service Department during the winter months are busy maintaining pot holes, ditch lines, evaluating roads, and performing equipment maintenance. Some of the duties the crews perform are restoring our equipment in house, repainting equipment to prevent rust and prolong its life. The crews also work on building maintenance and enhancements. When the winter weather causes adverse conditions on the roads are crews respond to it at all hours of the day. If the snow and ice conditions persist, the crews use smart salting practices to reduce the excessive use of salt by only salting hills, curves, and intersections. This helps keep these areas under control and reduces the effects of salt on our environment.

During winter weather events that require our crews to be out in the plow trucks, we remind motorists to give the trucks plenty of room on the roadway to perform their duties. Always slow down and move over when approaching any vehicles with flashing lights. Allow for more travel time when winter weather strikes so you can get to your destination safely.

As we work through the winter months, the Service Department begins planning for the 2022 construction season. Working with the Lake County Storm Water Department on future enhancements to storm water runoff. Planning for the concrete slab replacement program and road resurfacing projects are also part of the wintertime duties.

The Service Department is available to residents with questions or concerns Monday- Friday from 7am-3:30pm by calling 440-350-3225 or by email at concordtwp.com/service. We hope the residents of Concord Township have a safe and healthy new year.
