Russell Juelg NJ Conservation Foundation Jersey Devil Campfire family friendly friday
We're on the hunt for the Jersey Devil!

Bring the kids and those young at heart for a campfire and hike in search of the Jersey Devil! Russell Juelg of New Jersey Conservation Foundation and CU Maurice River longtime member and volunteer Tom McKee will lead us on this adventure through the southern pine barrens.

The evening will start with a campfire at dusk complete with hot dogs and 'smores, while our leaders play Piney folk tunes. As the sun sets Russell will start developing the scene for the night's highlight, The Jersey Devil Hunt. Be ready for a spooky retelling of old folklore and historic sightings. Stories of the Jersey Devil go back approximately 250 years. There have been Jersey Devil sightings in Mays Landing, Greenwich, and Winslow.

After the campfire, we will set off on The Hunt. We will walk on nature trails and through the pines following the traces and clues left behind by this elusive creature. No headlamps or flashlights allowed! After this hunt through the Pine Barrens, you will surely have some thrilling stories of your own to tell!
