When Camp Olmsted opened in 1901, the purpose was to serve as a "vacation" away from the depressed living conditions in New York City. Olmsted's mission has always been to provide children and families from underserved populations with access to outdoor camping opportunities. Fast forward to over a century later… Camp Olmsted offers thriving day and overnight camp programs where 60% of children receive some level of financial assistance.
SCOPE has partnered with Camp Olmsted for over 20 years in our shared efforts to provide children from under-resourced communities with the opportunity to reach their full potential at summer camp. What an impact!
