JOURNEY THROUGH JULY WITH SCOPE!

At the start of summer of 2021 we were excited for children across the country to return to their second home, camp! Now that we are almost halfway through July we feel even more appreciative of our supporters and partners who continue to journey with us to make summer camp opportunities accessible to ALL children.
ANDREW TANNENBAUM
SCOPE Board Member
SCOPE Board member Andrew Tannenbaum personally relates to the experience of summer camp truly being a gift. “Now that I’ve been fortunate enough to send both my kids to camp, I realize it is very much a financial gift. Yet kids whose families can’t afford camp are often the ones who need camp the most. The ability to share that gift and to change kids’ lives is why I joined the SCOPE Board of Directors.”

Andrew’s legal cyber security career experience adds to the professional diversity of our SCOPE board of directors, since joining in 2017. He thoughtfully engages others to get move involved with SCOPE through his passion for camp. As a Camp Scatico alumni and parent, Andrew is always excited for his camp community to be among the camps participating in initiatives to support SCOPE, such as Raffle4SCOPE and all of our SCOPE events! His own outreach by email and social media combined with Scatico’s promotion of this chance to win back one child’s camp tuition while supporting SCOPE led to raising $2,600 and providing two SCOPE camperships!

Andrew isn’t the only member of his family with a passion for SCOPE, his son Eli is an active member of the Mamaroneck HS SCOPE club and his daughter Alexa’s tie-dye shirt sales as part of her Mitzvah Project benefited SCOPE.

Thank you Andrew for continuing to change children’s lives through SCOPE!
FALLON UTLEY AND SYDNEY REINHARDT
SCOPE Interns
It’s motivated young leaders like Fallon Utley and Sydney Reinhardt whose work behind the scenes makes a noticeable impact. After participating in and helping to plan Camp Taconic’s annual Strides4SCOPE initiative during their summers as campers at Taconic, they’ve helped the SCOPE team with projects, events, and initiatives as SCOPE interns over the last two school years.

Both teens were initially tasked with scanning, cataloging, and selecting impactful SCOPE camper thank you letters and since their initial days, we’ve been truly impressed by their dedication, insightfulness, and desire to support SCOPE’s mission, both in-person and remotely!

This past December they developed a fun initiative to engage their fellow Junior Leadership Council (JLC) members to raise awareness for SCOPE as part of #GivingTuesday. They created a simple how-to guide for the What Camp Means to Me Insta-Challenge and shared it with JLC across the country. On the big day they followed up with other Junior Leaders and 32 of them created and shared stories of what camp means to them and why they #SupportSCOPE -- what a success!

Take the Insta-Challenge and share why you love camp while raising awareness and contributions for SCOPE!
Camp Ogichi Daa Kwe, Minnesota
SCOPE Midwest
Camp Ogichi Daa Kwe's mission is to empower the strong spirits of young women through wilderness trips and lifelong community. Undistracted by technology, unburdened by social pressures and encouraged by passionate role models, the young women who come to Ogichi discover the strongest version of themselves.

An Ogichi Daa Kwe parent shares “One thing my daughter will remember forever is how her counselor called her 'fearless.' She carries that with her each day and truly believes she is!” Here’s to a summer filled with moments for all campers to be able to discover who they truly are.
