Dream Journal – November 2025

School Year Begins

The preparation for the new school year was completed and our team helped organize the official school opening ceremony at our original school in Tapang village on 1 November. All 700 students were presented with basic study materials of notebooks and pens. Additionally 110 poor students will receive school uniforms so they can attend school.

The best and most improved students were rewarded with prized certificates of excellence for their English and Computer classes.

New Desks Needed

CCDO first started supporting the small rural school of Tapang over 15 years ago. Since then CCDO was instrumental in many changes. Two old wooden buildings have been replaced with 5 new buildings each with 5 classrooms. Over the years, the student body has multiplied. Desks are in short supply as some of the older desks have collapsed.

We urgently need to replace 25 desks so the students can study.

Each desk costs $65.

Students receiving Crocs

Our regular visitors and faithful donors Scott Friedman and Steve Tilliss from Together We Can Change the World noticed many children without shoes on their last trip to Siem Reap. CCDO did a needs assessment of 21 Primary Schools in Angkor Thom District and found that 2,393 students were in need. Many of these children come from low-income families, not all of them attend school barefoot, but most of them wear worn-out footwear.

Bravo to TWCCTW for following through and seeing that all children have shoes that protect their little feet from cuts and hookworm infections.

Lantern Projects to the Rescue

Our many village preschools are always in need of school supplies and healthy snacks. A generous donation of $2,456 from donors via Lantern Projects will help supply new arts and crafts supplies as well as healthy snacks.

Visitors

A longtime support Anne Wildt from Germany, has been collecting clothes, shoes, and crayons in anticipation of her visit to Siem Reap. She was excited to reconnect with her scholarship student, Sophy Nom. Due to Anne’s generous support Sophy was able to attend university and graduated with a BA and is a teacher at Tapang school.
